Diamond Racing wheels for autocross...thoughts/opinions?
Anybody got any experience with these wheels for autocrossing? They arent the lightest, but they look descent, and are pretty cheap...

I heard that the Diamonds are good wheels for Auto-Xing..cheap and relativly light. I like the King Speed wheels a little better though, but I don't know their cost - most definately more than the Diamonds. SERIES 70SUL Spun Form Ultra is the one I'm looking at and in 13x7 size it's weight is 12.75 lbs compared with the 14 or so lbs for the Diamond (with FWD center...). Here's a link to their site...it's the very last wheel:

There are ton's of other brand steel wheels out there, the trick is finding the light spun ones designed for road racing / auto-X....

I've used a set of 13 x 9 diamonds for a couple of years now, and for the money they're tough to beat. I was impressed with the quality of the powder coat as well. It's a good strong wheel, but not too terribly heavy either.
It depends on what it is that you need in a new set of wheels?
Custom sizing?
Weight savings?
Something that looks better then stock?
Something inexpensive?
When I was searching for a set of 13" rims for AutoXing my Teg I found three options that I thought were the best in their field:
Panasports if you got the $
Custom wheel company in oregon that uses Honda OE centers to make custom size rims (johnq recommended them) for only ~$52
I looked at Diamonds wheels and I didn't see anything they did better then the Oregon custom wheels (sorry but I cant find the old thread about them).
I chose Lenso VPD for my car because they are light, look good, 13" and clear my GSR calipers! I have yet to actually use them (they're that new) but I'll have a report up after Feb 17.

I just had three wheels straightened by them at $17 per wheel.
Right now I am so inexperienced in auto-xing that its unreal. I will be doing my first auto-x on March 3rd. I am planning on buying some of the Diamond Duralites. They are cheap, lights and good. I am going to get some 13x8's. I think the national champion in CSP uses the Diamond Duralites. His website is http://www.1fastrex.com .

I use the Diamond Racing wheels. 13x7 on my RX-7. Not problems with them so far. They look good in chrome or black. And they cost WAAAYYYYYY less than my Panasports. I have one set of Panasports for qualifying/racing and two sets of Diamonds for practice, rain, etc.
The Diamonds are about $70 and 13lbs (Diamond's claim, never bothered weighing mine).
Not sure of the exact weight for the Panasports, but it is nearly 4lbs less per wheel (as measured by a friend who also uses both brands). But the cost is way more ($500/set+ used).
Wilamette looks to be a good bet for autocross only wheels, but I am unsure if they are durable enough for high speed use or street use.
