Default mugen rims del sol

hi,

Ik have just bought the mugen MR5 15 INCH rims for my honda del sol. The rims are in good condition, accept the paint looks worn. So I want to get them painted again, ans also get the lip polished again. The rims are made oud of 2 parts. Now I want to take out the inner core of the rim and paint this. But a few people old me that if I take out the inner core of the rim. the outher core can twist a little. If this happens I will not be able to put the 2 peaces together again. So is this true. Is it forbidden to do so? will the outher core really twist?

Thanks in advance.

I don't suggest taking them apart. I've heard nothing but horror stories about not being able to get them back balanced.

I've heard something about this also.

I would just do a really good job taping them and paint them w/o taking them apart.

Polish the lip before you paint.

I would try the wheel and tire forum for more advice.

my buddy has a set of 2pc 18" volk gtp's he took the center out but you have to take the tires off first. if you take the tires off first you wont have this problem his wheels balance out fine i would think that you would have less of the problem with smaller wheels....
