Default 9006 6000K Philips HID kit arrived...not sure how to install...HELP!

I just got my HID kit in today...I was so happy after waiting so long. The problem is on how to connect it. The instructions say:

"that I need to plug the headlight bulb socket from the car directly into the ballast
and then check for correct polarity. If it doesnt work then I'd have to do a 180 and connect the socket the other way."

I'm kinda confused cuz with my old Philips kit, everything was plug and play literally.....but when I tried to plug in my factory low beam socket into the ballast it wouldn't slide in all the way. it seems like I'd have to trim some of the plastic away, so it could clear the locking tabs that are on the ballast. Once the plastic is trimmed away, then the antidisestablishmentarianismet will slide over.

On the othjer hand the kit came with an additional adapter for cars that dont fit properly, I'm wondering if Pep Boys sell 9006 connector style socts so that I can solder the wires on myself. I really dont want to hack up the factory 9006 wiring harness to solder on the adapter though.......I gotta figure out how to do this as simply and cheaply as possible, but hey I cant wait to try out my 6000K's....
On my old Philips kit, there was an adapter which had an inline relay.....this kit has no relay at all and you just have to plug the factory low-beam socket directly into the ballast.....to those of you who have philips kit, what did you guys do? How did the connections go? Can anyone help?

Once I get it lighting I'll post pics.
