well i have a 2000 GSR and i have a box with 2 speakers in it..
heres the problem...i don't know how to do the install..
im not runnin an amp or anything i just want to put the subs in n hook em up. i know how to hook up the wiring..i was just wondering where did everyone get the wires that run to the subs
did u unhook the rear speakers and use those..did u use a splitter or something ao u have the rear speakers and the box playing...or did u do something else..
also if anyone could tell me how i get the plastic panel things off the car so i can get to the speakers.
please help me ..i dont wanna make a mistake

You need an amp to run your subs, and do the rear speaker grills not come off on the 2000 GSR?

I know the grills come off on a 99 gsr.
just go in and splice the wires for your rear speakers and make a new wire or whatever, i dont know.. that seems like the easiest way even if it may not work very well.

this prolly real stupid sounding...but...howcome??
im just trying to learn a lil since i know nothing in this field really
someone told me i could just stick the wires runnin to the rear speakers into the box but from what yall say i guess that someone is wrong.
but since i will need an amp what do u suggest is a good one and not too costly

Modified by DA notorious G.S.R at 10:50 AM 6/2/2005</TD></TR></TABLE>OIC it is a "truck box" two 12"woofers and 2 horns, not really a sub box, there is a x-over inside, it needs to be run full-range, but you still need an amp, it would work if you just hooked up the rear speaker leads to it, but without an amp you would be under-powering them badly, and you can do damage to them and your HU.

Because the "box" is relatively inefficient, [takes a bit of power to get sound out of it] you will tend to turn up the volume on the HU, and if you turn it up to the point of clipping, [easy to do with a HU wired to a box that should have an amp on it] you will over heat the HUs internal amp, the clipping output, [DC] will heat up the VCs, [voice coils] on the speakers and burn them
Again so you understand, You CAN wire them off HU power, [rear speaker outputs] but only them, do not leave the stock speakers wired up also, [the imp. load will drop to 2ohms, too low for the HU] be carefull on how high you turn up the volume

just wondering ....would it be better to direct more power to the back than the front speakers when i put that box in? like on the HU u can put like the sound left or right and back or front...should i put more to the back or something..??

What you have is what is called a truck box, [kind of like componants speakers in a box] it is ment to run at full range, [not crossed over HP or LP] and although you can run the "truck box" directly off your HUs internal amp, you will not "drive the "truck box" to it's full potential you would need an "offboard" amp, I can't find Targa autosounds site so I don't know if 250W is a "peak" or "RMS" rating.
