I'm gonna buy some coilovers soon and am deciding between the Tokico RAK full coilover set and the Omnipower full coilover set. Anyone have some experience running the Tokicos? The Tokicos are height adjustable and come with Illuminas so they are 5-way dampening adjustable as well. Omni of course is just height adjustable. what do you guys think?
i havent heard many ppl buying the complete RAK setup.
ive used illuminas and am a fan of them. i like the range of adjustment and is good for the street and capable in competition.
please stop bumping. if nobody answers, then nobodys got an opinion.

I have the RAKs. Love them. They're not Konis, but they're bang for buck and superior to AGXs and lower Teins. I did the upper spring perch mod. Or you can shell out for the GC upper perches. Then it will be hands down superior to the Omni's. Omni's <> adjustable, and I don't know the quality of their struts.
Bad thing about the RAK kit is that you need the metal rings off your stock struts and the stock perches, so you have to disassemble the stock suspension, meaning that you need to borrow some spring compressors and be careful.
I'm pretty sure the illuminas on the RAK are stiffer than normal Illuminas. My friend has normal Illuminas.
**** my grammar

hmm if the RAK units are valved greater than the illuminas, that might be interesting...
tokico used to sell illumina "R" versions, they were thicker and definately valved more than normal illuminas for the crx. theyre long gone now. maybe the valving was dug up...

They dont sell the Illumnia R's anylonger?
I got a set of them, really love them A LOT. I thought the RAK and Illumnia R's were all the same. Dam, if not the R's were on the market for a year or less. anywho, heres a couple pics...sorry they are fat.

Once again I'll say: the "Tokico Type R" = the "Tokico RAK". "RAK" is the part number for their Type R line. I'm enjoying mine. There was a noticeable increase in performance when I did the upper spring perch mod. Car is dropped 1.75, and I have the front perches corrected to 1.5 due to hood clearance, and the rear corrected to 1.75. It made it a smoother ride and the tires hold the road better like a fresh set of struts or like going from heavy *** chrome rims to light *** smaller diameter Rotas.
well the "R" versions sold in the early 90's did not have the threaded body.
it did however have a thicker body. which i notice on the current "R" shocks, but is that just for the threads?

i would go for the omni's simply because a ton of people are having a lot of success with them right now, plus they come in two spring rates, and you can also get matching omni drag coils...
cheehee hit me up if you want the omnis and you can make another order....

I will say one thing about the Omni's is that they have a large diameter strut rod, while the Tokicos have a stock diameter. Read up on why a larger diameter makes a strut potentially so much better.
