new tires??
S02 are junk.... i do not like that one bit... I put Hankook RS-2 or somethign like that and they are awesome... They are better than the Falken Azenis... I use these tires for Autocross and daily driving... they are GGGREAT... Another good set is Sumitomo HTRZ... They are a good price off of tire rack... On my Yellow S2K i have Potenza RE750... those tires are not too bad either... But i would stay away from the SO2.... umm, Yoko. arent too bad.. i had em on my MSP... I didnt like em though.... And it all really comes down to what you want... Since i Race the car, i love having sticky tires... but i buy tires every 2-3k miles...What Size are i going to get? I run 225/50/16 on the front... 245/45/16 on the rear on both S2000

I know you have two S2000's now, but if you are going to comment on generalities aobut tires - make sure you back it up. I don't mean to come off like a dick but heck, how else am I going to say it: the recommendations are inaccurate. The only thing you did get right was the comment about the HTRZ's. Even if you really are changing tires out every 2-3K miles, you should try going back to the OEM S02's to see what you are missing. Heck, I've had several sets of RA1's that have lasted longer than your 2-3K miles, and that's through daily driving and a handful of track events.
The OEM S02's perform incredibly well. However, their life on the car is shortened and by the time you hit 8 to 8500 miles they are toast. Sometimes you can streach them a little further, but they do perform very well in the dry. In the wet, they are horrible.
The Pole Position S02's (which sexyS2K *might* be referring to) is a discontinued Potenza tire, wihch was replaced by the Pole Position S03, a much better tire. The PPS02 was horrible horrible tire which chunked off and feels similar to the Hankook tire, at the same 220 treadwear rating. The hankook does "ok" but it isn't a top performer. I'd say it is a 75% tire from the OEM S02. The AVS100's are a bit better, even on the track. Other comparable choices to the AVS100's would be the Sumitomo HTRs. They heat up and hold very well, handle very well in the wet, but the only disadvantage is the tread depth causing squirming of the car and the limits of the tires are reach very quickly - unless of course you have them shaved for competition/track use.

umm, yeah... this is my opinion... yeah, you are being a dick... but with my exp. with the S02 i didnt like em.. i think there is more out there.. and for the price you are paying for those, its ridiculous...I understand where you are coming from, but it all depends what you want to do with the car... I Race the car, and i had the So2 on my car... Didnt like em one bit... They didnt hold up... The Hankook are a lot better when it comes to racing, autocrossing, and daily driving... Its all opinions...

daily driving...s02's or PP S03's. i would not buy yoko avs200
racing...I have tracked on S02's and now RA1's. I like both but cannot compare as I have not used any other tire. one note, I have kept up with a few s2k's on RA1's while i was running S02's and stock suspension. Now, is it driver or tires? hmmm

I just replaced my SO2s with Toyo Proxes T1-Ss and I like them much better. The SO2s where just too dangerous in the rain for me. I live in Florida and the afternoon showers could be deadly if you were on SO2s that were anything but new. The T1-Ss are awesome in the wet and feel comparable in dry conditions. However my next tire I am going to try the Hankook RS-2s. I have hear ALOT of good things about them.

the RS-2s are amazing tires... They handle pretty well in the rain too... i like the tread pattern on em, the they arent that expensive.... i spent a little under $400 for all for... 225/50/16 up fron and 245/45/16 on rear... the tread wear on em are 200... def. worth the money
