Default I need help with my exhaust

I'm in a heated discussion with a friend about what I'm doing with my exhaust. I am running a SOHC ZC right now and I'm putting a Y8 head on soon (milled .003 over, mild p&p). I'm installing my DCSports 4-2-1 header today, and am getting the exhaust done tomorrow. I'm going to get 2.5" crimp bent piping, replacing the cat with a resonator, and running a canister style muffler.

My friend thinks 2.5" is too big for the D series. I think since it's crimp bent, it will be fine. I can get mandrel bending, but it'll cost more than double in price.

Anyone care to add any opinions/comments?

May be a bit overkill...I think you would be fine with 2.25. I think you have a point though too, that since it is crimp bent, you will lose some diameter. I think you should got 2.25 mandrel bent...depending on the cost. Do it right the first time

Of course mandrel is the way to go, but keep in mind the cost is more than double, and I am trying to save money.

I think the main point of mandrel bends are the better flow characteristics and the same ID throughout the bend. I think that the above setup will be too loud. As stated before go with the 2.25 for NA applications and 2.5-3in for nitrious and FI applications. I would go to Kteller or Summit and buy the 2.25piping, 45 and 90degree bends, keep the resonator, add another 2.5 resonator before the first bend, and finish out with the canister muffler(not my style).

I read something in a Honda builders handbook and they say that just 2" exhaust proved to give more power on the sohc vtec instead of 2.25" or 2.5" exhaust. Dyno proven in the book. It was just something I read. Of course if you do end up getting rid of your cat or anything put a resonator in place so it won't be so loud.
