advice to beef up my engine
Hi. i just bought a 98 Acura Integra GS. now here is my question i would like to make my engine more powerfull without an engine swap and with out making it "flashy". What should i do like i need hints or your opinion. i was thinking port and polish the intake manifold, and maybe like bore the throttle body but i'm not sure if that would be a waste of money please let me know what you think and please give me other suggestions about things i can do in that catagory. also what kind of place would i have to take my car to do this, could i bring it to any normal machanic or is there a special person for things like this. thanks for your time
ooo and by the way the reason i'm asking this is cuz i'm only 17 and my parents are being retarded about me doing aftermarket work to the car so as of now i can't do like exhaust or w/e because it is something they would notice sooo that is y i'm relying on things like wut i have mentioned because they won't be able to look at that and tell. but with like exhaust they will be able to hear and they will notice if i have a big *** muffler on the end. but i am thinking about getting some kind of exhaust that will look stock. wut brand should i get, cuz i'll try and order tht without them knowing or what ever if u have any suggestions on that kind of exhaust please let me know the brand and if u know a site that i can go look at it on plz put down the website thx again
p.s.
i have a web page on cardomain if you would like to see my car.

Start off with intake exhaust and header. Once you have that then think about port the head, IM and TB. Also add cams get it all dyno tuned and you will be good to go. Well this is if you want to stay NA. If not go low boost turbo

intake/exhaust/header will give you like 20 whp, which will give you noticeable difference. but if you want a real ****** beast, buy a turbo kit. if you want reliability+gas mileage to still be great, then go naturally aspirated. if you want a real fast NA car, then i would recommend getting ls/vtec done.

20 whp is being quite a bit optimistic on an LS motor with i/h/e alone---
i say-- save your money and go ls-vtec..... any way you split it the top end on a non vtec is crap. the casting is terrible and investing tons into port and polish will likely yield slightly more than a vtec head and bolt ons (if at all)
as for an exhaust that looks near stock -- apexi ws, greddy sp2, DC Sport SS, RS*R Exmag -- all are quiet compared to other exhausts and are far more low key in appearance

ive owned 3 ls's, and 2 gsr's.( one b17 and one b18) . I used to drool over vtec just because i didnt have it.. vtec is pretty innovative, but very overrated.. it does what its supposed to do, give you good low end power and good high end power by switching cam profiles. ls/vtec is good for someone that wants tha vtec scream and wants to add some power to their motor. But, the head was not build for that block. Period. No doubt that it can be reliable and effective if built right, but why not spend the extra cash and know you can rev with no worries about throwing a rod through your motor? (gsr bottom end) I commend you for your respect of opinion though. But i see people posting arguments all the time and its usually a matter of what your using the car for rather than a difference of opinion...
btw ive had alot to drink
