Default Looking at buying a 1997 CBR 600 F2 for $3999.00

Hi

I want to buy this 1997 Honda CBR 600 F3 and the guy is selling it for CAD $3999 (US$3,196). It has 28000 kms or 17,398 miles on it, it has been safetied with new brakes and fork seals. It also has an after market Vh exhaust. It was an insurance right off but was repaired by a reputable repair shop to fix the body damage. I took it for a ride today and it seemed to run well and it accelerated throught the gears smoothly without hestitation. The brakes seemed to stop well and did not luck up. It is going to be my first spot bike, although I have owned dirt bikes and snowmobiles before and have been riding on and off for 15 years.

Any suggestions on what to be looking for so that I am not buying a lemon?
Is the bike a good price for that paticular year?
Is it a good sport bike for an intermediate rider to begin on?

Any other information to assist me would be appreciated.

Thank you

If it has a salvage title, I would give him no more than 2,000 US.

Hows my deal sound then? A 94 F2 w/ 25k miles, painted all gloss block, with a chipped tail above the tail light, a few scratches up the left side/engine cover for $2300 and willing to be worked on for price?

Sounds like a good deal, especially if they are willing to work on the price.

Clean title???
