sup guys, my b18c1 was rebuilt a couple thousand miles ago....during break in the motor ran great....
i recently installed a 190 walbro pump and 310cc injectors ( in a eg chassis)...
after the install, or shortly thereafter, the car started to act up.
the idle holds fine..when it wants to...at 700-750 rpm...then sometimes in the 500 rpm range...
when i drive...and come to a stop...it dips in the 500 range as well...then struggles its way back up.
when i start her up...its not a crisp clean start up like usual...theres a bit of struggle there as well..
the motor is strong, did a compression ttest and the numbers are great.
the only thing(s) changes are the injectors and pump....i'm running a chipped p28 currently...
the research i have done is to check the 02, iac valve, clean and check t/b, air filter, plugs etc...
i'm wondering if i'm running way rich???
fpr reads at 42 psi at idle...
any info or feedback will be greatly appreciated...
thanks

Try dropping the Fuel pressure a little bit, see if it acts a little better. If that doesn't work, then do the opposite. That'll only help if you're running way to rich, check your plugs and that should give you a good indication. Are you throwing any type of codes? What about your CAT, is that cool? Is it removed? Maybe it's stuffed.

What's funny is that the car ran fine up until recently when the temperatures started getting higher in TX, 90-100 degrees. I had the Hondata tuned about 3-4 months ago. And it only seems to happen after I've driven the car and let it sit for a half hour to an hour or so.
I checked the vacuum hoses, my dist cap and rotor is less than a year old, I just replaced the plugs to see if that'll help. No codes thrown, Cat is clear.
I did clean out the TB and spray it with TB cleaner just last night but i haven't driven it since doing that. So I'll let you know if that helped. And I actually re-did my ground wires thinking it might be that as well. I even dremelled the paint off and used dielectric grease so it would have good metal to metal contact. I'm stumped.
The only things I can think of is maybe replacing the oe coil with an aftermarket MSD one and maybe upgrading the fuel pump since I'm running 310cc injectors with an oe fuel pump.
Thanks for any other suggestions for us!

try to adjust the throttle screw or clean up your iac in the back of the manifold with some carb cleaner...mine did the same thing, because my car runs so rich, that it actually build up carbon on the iac in the back of the manifold. Just take those off and spray some carb cleaner. This should help somehow...or adjust the throttle screw

Well, it looks like the throttle body cleaner helped a lot. I haven't experienced the dipping idle again as of yet. When I was spraying the cleaner in the TB I noticed a good amount of carbon had built up inside. So I probably used about half the can to clean it out.
Maybe just to be sure I should run Sea Foam in there again. It's been a while since I've done that.
Thanks again for everyone's help! (even though this wasn't my topic in the first place!) But hopefully it will help others in the future.

It's been a little while but it did it again this evening. Not as bad though. When I turned off the a/c it idled better but was still choppy.
Do you think it may be the coil? Cuz like I said before it sounds like when you take a spark plug boot off while it's running. It idles really choppy. I'm thinking something electrical.
I may try Sea Foam this time to really clean it out. And since then I just installed a new 190lph Walboro fuel pump so I know it's getting ample gas.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks!

I did the test with my ohmeter and it looks to be the coil. So I swapped it out with a good used one. It was still choppy at times so I reset the ecu and I haven't had a problem since.
Reset ecu: pull the 7.5amp ecu/radio fuse (be sure you know your radio code before pulling fuse) let the car set for about 10mins. Re-install the fuse, let the car idle for 5 mins with no accessories on (ie - radio, lights, a/c, heater, radar detector, etc). Don't rev the engine while idling. Turn off car after the 5 mins and then you are good to go.
Hopefully this works for others as well with similar problems!
