Default cold motor bog

Ok when the motor is cold, sat for 3 hours or so, it bogs down heavily under acceleration, until it warms up.I know.... let it warm up first, and so i have, but i think another problem im having is related to it . When the car is as warm as its gonna get, between 2800 and 3200 rpm the exhaust pops under slow acceleration . it doesent do it when giving it about 30% throttle or more but say 15% and under it starts laging/popping/backfiring pretty badly. the things ive checked and fixed are the fuel filter, cap and rotor, timing, plugs and wires. Im kinda at a loss... maybee wondering if anyone else has run into the same problem the only things I can think of to check next would be injectors and maybe the fuel pump ???//// Help me please this is getting rediculous!!

Well when I had it dynoed there was a drop in power between 28 and 3800 rpm's( he also felt this bog im talkin about. the guy who was doing it, and also owns the shop, was the one who replaced the fuel filter as well as checked the timing and rotor. he was at a loss as well. One thing that did help was when i was doing the swap i bent the line that comes from the fuel filter a little bit. I replaced that with a high press hose and it seemed to help but its still not fixed. Any ideas?????????

not to sound like i'm dumping on you ...but alot of guys have experienced this after doing a swap, myself included, I think there was a thread a while back where the guy found the problem, I suggest you quit spending money on the little things and do some hard core searching. I gave up after a while and sold the whole shibaz, wrong thing to do. Are you getting a CEL? if so is it egr? Good luck

if you do get after market ones like lucas, rc, or any other company and they are bigger than the normal size, you are going to need to get it tuned, if not, then you are going to run rich and lose hp and waste money on gas. either get the same size, or get them tuned. if you are not going FI, then stay with the stock size. you can also get ur injectors flow tested. where at? i dont know.

Yes the problem has been covered before, and for one owner it was the timing that fixed the notorious "3k hesitation / bog problem".

If you own a prelude, it's famous, my 2000 Type SH even had it and that car only had 48k miles on it. However, I had no way to change the timing on my h22a4 so I had to replace the knock sensor, and that's still not gauranteed to fix the problem, however, most people have the best results fixing the "3k bog" with a new knock sensor and a new rotor.

If you would like to search the arhives it would be under "The Official Prelude Bogging and Hesitation thread".

Good luck

That's the thread... I asked about the egr because mine was throwing an egr code no matter what, I put a new one in, and eventually just threw in a block plate. Read that guys write up and if that doesn't work
