Default H23vtec = 0 compression on 1 cylinder

As the title eludes to, I just finished up putting the H22 head on my H23. Got everything hooked up, tightened down, and timed. So here are the symptoms:

Cyl 1 had about 75psi compression, then dropped off to 0 and hasn't come back. Cyl's 2, 3, & 4 each are pulling 175psi.

I did a compression test on the H23 head before we tore it apart and all of the cylinders were pulling good compression (170-200) so I'm pretty sure the bottom end is OK.

The question - Since I was a dumbass and didn't have the new (used) head sent in for a valve job, do you guys think that is what my problem is?

-and-

Is there anything that I can try while the head is still on the motor, in the hopes that maybe the valves just aren't quite seating or have debris?

The Prelude runs (like ****) finally, still getting frustrated.

Try a leakdown test.
Have you tried adjusting your valves? 0 Compression sounds like its a major problem, and a simple valve adjustment may not fix that, but it won't hurt to try.

Yeah, went through and adjusted all the valves before starting up.

Haven't had a chance to do a leakdown yet.....this is a "weekend only" project 'cause the car is 200 miles away.

wow......nothing like an in-depth answer

Anyway, leakdown test has air hissing through the intake.....so looks like I get to have a valve job. yay.

No - brand new head gasket. This is the head I am replacing my H23 one with b/c it cooked.

Adjusted all valves, and they all moved when rotating the crank. I just wish I would have taken the time to have the valves done BEFORE I put the head on.
