I lost my manual...well for the moment I think its some where in my house...I'll find it though. So my question is....what are these gears and what do they mean. I asked my boyfriend and he gave me a different answer than the answer from my dad and my uncle. Sorry if it is a dummy q but I am curious. I believe my 2000 honda civic lx has d3 d4 2 p r n. I can't remember them all.

 

d4 is overdrive. d3 will let your car shift automatically from 1 2 and 3 but not to 4. some people put it in d3 for city driving, But always put it in d4 for the highway.

No, I always drove mine in D4 while in the city..

Lose the auto though, get a manual. I'm in the process of doing an auto/manual swap.
