What can cause this? TPS? Whenever i'm driving, the car always feels like it wants to shift to the next higher gear, then it bogs cause the rpm's are too low in the next gear.
Basically, does anyone know what specifically controls the transmssion shifting rpm?
Thanks a lot

When the solonoids in the tranny get dirty and clogged it causes the tranny to shift almost like your saying. My girlfriend's car was doing something similar to this and i took it to a reputable tranny shop and they cleaned the solonoids for 60 bux total and it ran fabulously after that. My girl drives a 92' DA.
good luck bro

I just adjusted the kickdown cable, shifts 300% better. Thanks for the tip about the solenoids though, if the problem comes back I will check into that.

Sorry to go off topic, but that is one huge car, huh?

mine does the same thing, as far as bogging down and wanting to downshift. like when i slow down to make a turn, i stays in 2nd and bogs. dude, how did you adjust your cable? did you tighten or loosen it? how much play/slack did you leave in it? and does anyone know anything about "cleaning the solenoids" like DAguyLS said. Thanks
im not an automatic fan nor do i claim to know too much about it but i think what determines the shift point has something to do with the torque converter. they say ones with higher stall rate will shift later, wich is good for performance driving.

Just loosen the lock nuts on the throttle cable, on the transmission side. Turn them counter clockwise (decreasing number of threads on the passenger side of the car) to make the transmission shift smoother. Adjust the threads to go to the other side to make the shifts more firm. There shouldnt really be too much play in the cable, but remember to tighten the throttle cable from the gas pedal cause it will loosen up a bit.
Good luck
