Default Mini-me style for Mitsu 4G93

I built this a few days ago for a local guy. I thought it came out pretty nice for my first try at this style manifold and its kind of an odd fitment (single cam mirage motor) so it might be interesting.

Sam @ BMC race made me this custom headflange along with the other two. It's MIG welded sch40 mild steel with Techline ceramic coating. Let me know what you think!

Did you buy the collector from BMC or did you make that too? Just wondering if MIGin' a collector is possible due to the tight area. Looks good though.

Mani looks good, and will look especially good under the hood of a sleeper like a Mirage.
I'm curious about a couple of things though:
1) What kind of cutting device was used to cut the 4 tubes for the collector?
2) Is the coating on the inside of the turbine housing going to cause clearance issues between the housing and the turbine wheel?
3) Is the coating on the sealing surfaces of the flanges (where they meet the head, turbo, and wastegate) going to cause sealing/leaking issues?

Thanks,
Brandon

wow, thanks guys. I have really been trying to turn out the best manifolds that I can, glad it shows.

wantboost was right, I make them. The shorter collector on these style manifolds are super easy to MIG compared to a longer one like a topmount would have.

Haha this is no sleeper! it is black with an evo5 wide body kit (CF wing, CF hood, CF trunk too) and big volks with polished lips. A fully built block and head would be this cars other unique part. Its actually a shop/show car for a near buy shop.
Anwsers...
1) horizontal band saw with an adjustable collector jig

2)I dont coat that part

3)I usually plane it off but it really doesn't seems to matter on the ones I plane first then coat. I like the idea of leaving it on the head flange because it may help keep heat from being conducted from the manifold into the the head, raising engine temps.

Looking good! Is your listed e-mail address still correct? I have a question about the coating...

i did the 1.5 blew it up a few times, dropped in a 1.8, tore it up, and ended up with a 4g63 after a year or so, it was a pain in the *** but it was an awesome motor. it was in my 97 DE coupe, car was a piece of crap but it cost me like 700 bux, so i had fun with it!

nice job

yup, just like a stock eclipse or VW or pretty much any factory turbo car. Unfortunatly its not enough to silence the might squeak of the type S.

oh yeah it fits!

we did the swap right after the "drag mirage" from Extreme came out. i was told that it couldnt be done for a dialy driver, and that false headlights and other stuff had to be done in order to make it work due to motor location, but i dont know where this info was generated from, because it almost seemed to be at home in the engine bay, a few parts had to be made in the shop in order to work, and some mounts mods had to be done, but nothing too major, i will try to dig up some pics of it. ended up selling it on ebay to a guy in virginia
