rotot paint?
I was planning on painting my rotors black. Obviously not the whole thing but rather the part that has contact with the rim. Mine is rusted and I just wanted to use some gloss black to give it a nice clean look. My question is the pepboys by me didnt carry the black vht caliper paint which holds up to 900 degress so i got high heat dupli color black which holds up tp 500 is that enough? or will the paint start coming off?
uhhh last time i checked rotors dont make contact with the rim and if you painted your rotors then they would become slippery and you would try to brake and kill yourself? also it would come off if you tried breaking anyways... i dont understand your question... are you talking about calipers
Im not talking about the part of the rotor that has contact with your pads. If you were to look at you rotor there is about an 1 inch of metal past the disc that goes over the wheel hub and lug nuts which your rim comes into contact with when mounted. Does that make more sense
hes trying to do something creative. its a good idea and might looks good but i dont think its very practical. if you were to do it...which i would advise against...yes get the 900 degree paint...autozone has it.

That part of the rotor looks much better painted, wish I would have painted mine when I painted my calipers. I installed a new rotor not long ago, and in no time at all it is all rusty looking behind the rim.
I painted mine last time i did a pad swap. I ran some tape on the rotor to make sure paint did not get on the braking surface. But once it was done it cleaned things up a lot.
I think the 500 will be fine. You would have to get your brakes red hot to get over 500 at the base.
Dont worry about what the other guys say. I allways hated the rust on my rotos and some flat black took care of that. I also sprayed my calipers. Mine where a gold/silver odd looking color. So just did them in a silver. I am sure someone is gonna clown me for painting my calipers, but hey at least I did not try to paint them spoon blue...lol

nahh painting your calipers makes sense when you have 17's or 18's on there it makes it look better. painting the hub part of the rotor sounds good to me. i think im gonna do that as well.
