bought an si today
whats up guys, bought a 99 si today and wanted to get some opinions on it...timing belts all that stuff, doesnt look like anythings been done to it. it is all stock with 95k, also what gas do you guys run in these cars? premium or does it matter..
Congrats, used to have one myself.
91 Octane at least, due the timing belt, valve adjustment, and full fluid flush. A minor tune-up wouldn't hurt either.
Welcome to Honda-Tech, search before you ask questions, they've probably been answered before

Yes, run 92/93 octane. The DOHC VTEC engines require them.
Change:
Timing belt
Water pump
Thermostat
Fuel filter
Air filter
Spark plugs
Ignition wires
Check cap and distributor, clean or replace if necesary
Transmission fluid
Valve adjustment
Good luck on it not getting stolen.

Manual recommends at least 91. Honda comensates for the cheap-skates that are going to put less than 91 in it, however it recommends 91 just like it recommends everything else...
its a black/black....owner's manual said 91 octane but 87 fine but it will have less performance, so looks like ill just play it by how much money i got at the time, how hard is water pump/timing belt? just get oem replacement or is there better stuff to get?

thats because its misfiring
whoever said the compression isnt that high, you are crazy
you need to run the highest premium available. its regulated by the state. at least 91 octane should be available, run that.

NO! Don't mix octanes. If you buy 91, stay with 91 until you have damn near nothing left in the tank. If you go with 87, stay with 87 until the tank is almost dry. It's a bad idea to mix octanes.

That article was bullshit
. My dad's a chemist if you want to argue, but I doubt I'd even need to dip into his expertise to rape that little bit of misinformation

do all these things, or make sure they have been done by the previous owner. ask them. Run 91 octane or higher, do what the manual calls for.
