Default How Posts Related to Street Racing Should Be Handled in This Forum

As a moderator, this will henceforth be the law on dealing with bling bling street racing posts. I'm sure Chris is as tired of monitoring this crap as I am, so he will likely agree.

First of all, some of the stuff has been funny as hell. The chirp controller and Adam's whole "cold chunking" thing were pure comic genius. And I need Cobra's job because some of the stuff he hunts down, posts, and bastardizes while he's at work is incredible (the adidas visor on the "flow" guy was priceless).
But lets face it, it's getting old and it gets things ugly in here. This is, in my opinion, the single best forum of it's class on the web. Let's dial back some of the ugliness.

These things will always be truths in this forum...
1. Street racing rice boys will always make posts about street racing and chirping tires.
2. When told it is stupid, they will ALWAYS call us all asses and try to justify it ("yeah, but me and MY friends are SAFE about it").
3. Things will degrade from there.

So from now on, when it happens please just control your urges. You won't educate 99.9% of these guys here. No way.
When a street racing, etc. post appears, just ONE PERSON please reply that street racing is illegal and not condoned in the competition forum. Regardless of the tool's reply, leave it alone and either Chris or myself will delete or lock it when we see it.

Let's not get into fights in here. That is apparently for the kills forum. If you want to fight, or if you want to desperately try to educate, head over to "killz." There's plenty of bait over there.

Thanks,
Scott

I agree 100%. Thanks for taking the time to write that up Scott.

I am only your assistant in here...

Mike does his best Beaver Cleaver voice: "But, Mom! I don't *wanna* grow up*"

Seriously,

How about someone writes up an intelligent, insightful reply and we keep it around to use. It should touch on the important points (you'll hit a minivan and kill some people, etc), but the answer should definitely include the fact that street racing destroys the reputation of real racing and racers, as it has been mentioned before.

Do any of the more craftful wordsmiths on this forum care to take a stab at the best "standard response"?

Any way you could just move them over to the "Kill Stories" forum where they can be among their own kind? And it'd probably lower Cobra's blood pressure. Every time I read his responses, I imagine I can see the veins throbbing in his forehead, e.g.

I too think it would be more amusing to just move the threads to the KiLlZ FoRuM..

edit: but I definitely agree with your overall stance and support the actions you take/will take in this fashion.

Very good, but lets not confuse legal and illegal drag racing here.

Agreed. The best way to handle it is for ONE person to post something like,
"Street racing is foolish and dangerous and the members of this forum don't support it and will not respond to posts about it"

If everyone else remains mum after this regardless of how the ricer kicks and screams the thread will quickly die. Once street racers get the idea that no one is interested in their "kill stories" etc they will go somewhere else.

Regards,
Alan

A nicely written and reasoned proposal. I'm sure 99.9% of the regulars here can and will support this approach.

First of all, some of the stuff has been funny as hell. The chirp controller and Adam's whole "cold chunking" thing were pure comic genius.
I must admit, though, that I'll miss some of the threads that developed after some young shiznit made the mistake of posting about street racing here in the competition forum. The pure entertainment value of those threads was priceless...
