Is it safe to take the heatshield around cat convtr.?? Rattling like krazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*Ls or GSR*
Hey guys i have a 2000 gsr....my car used to rattle at certain rpms...i took it to a muffler shop and it was the lower heatshield under the cat...i asked the guy if it was safe to take it off...he said yea thats just for grass and stuff....but now..the shield thats above the cat is rattling like krazy too...can i just unbolt it off n throw it away? or is it protecting some lines? any info would help guys..thanks a bunch

If I was you I would leave it on. It was put there for a reason, to protect the undercarriage from the heat produced.
I woud see about getting re-welded or use a big hose clamp to hold the heat shield to the cat. I have used the hose clamp method on my last teg and my current teg. I takes the rattle away. I wouldn't take it off though.
