What is the BEST Octane Booster available ?
Does anyone have any recommendations as to which is the best Octane Booster on the market ??
Is there any Octane Booster that will raise octane level more than 10 points ?
Thanks

hmm... i doubt it.... but canned octane booster i think the nos black bottle is probably the best... on 91 and the black/silver bottle you get about a 2.5 pt increase w/ a 15 gallon tank.... you can use toulene... but what sucks is you have to measure it correctly and blah blah
i used it for 3 years when i had a gsr w/ pct pistons...

I use something called "104" in my muscle car. It comes in a red bottle. My car pings like crazy with anything less than 100 octane, so I know it boosts at least that. I live in CA (91 at the pump) and use 1 bottle for ever tank (18 gallons). Pretty good stuff. I think they also make "108" in a black bottle. I buy it at Kragen, Monument Car parts, or Napa.
a "point" is a decimal. ie. 91+2 points = 91.2. worthless.
i saw one at kragen in a black bottle that claimed 8-10 "numbers" ie91+9 numbers = 100. cant remember what its called. wish i could. its also like 8 bucks a bottle and not "street legal"
i read an entire website that concluded that the "104+" was the best. red bottle with a yellow label. SCC actually tested and yes the "NOS" formula won i believe. i trust them more than anyone else cuz they arent a comic book like the rest.
just dont do the toulene/rubbing alcohol/ATF thing.
also...keep in mind the difference in 91 octane cali and 94 octane wherever is 10hp on a NA car

I tell you, ask google "gasoline faq"
or better yet... let's do some math. FRACTIONS.
I'm going to assume a 8 gallon CRX gas tank.
I'm going to assume that we are adding 1 gallon of octane booster to 7 gallons of 91.
I'm going to try to get to 100 octane fuel with this combination.
Let "x" represent the octane rating of the octane booster required.
(7 gallons * 91 octane/gallon) + (1 gallons * x octane/gallon) = 8 gallons * 100 octane/gallon
637 + X = 800
X = 800 - 637 = 163 octane
So for 1 gallon of octane booster to raise 7 gallons of 91 octane gas to 100 octane cumulative, the octane booster would need to be 163 octane. Go talk to a petrochemist and see what you can find. I guarantee you won't find ****.
If you want some clues as to what is effective to put into gas to raise it's octane rating, consult the gasoline faq.

octane doesnt increase horsepower it gives you the ability to advance the timing which could increase hp..imo

fractions people, hello...
OCTANE BOOSTERS ARE A RIPOFF. PERIOD.
I give up. Go back to high school and re-learn simple math or continue to line the pockets of people willing to take advantage of you.

As far as I know, Sherwin Williams only carries one brand of Toluene. It comes in a 1 gallon jug and is just under fifteen bucks for the gallon.
