Default Check engine lights, how to read them and interpret the problem. Please help

Ok, I got my d16y8 swap in and running. I know there is a problem cause the engine is running funny and making some wierd noises.

I wire up the switch for the check engine light on the dash:

I start the car up, turn the switch in the off position, turn it on, it comes on for 15 sec solid. goes off for 5 sec, comes on and stays on for 5 sec, then flashes 9 times.

And I think it keeps repeating the same code 9 over and over, but one time I thought i counted 10 flashes.

1. Am i doing this right?????
2. How am i supposed to interpret these results. Does the first two mean it is in a diagnostic mode or what????

I have never messed with diagnosing the ecu error codes before so I really have no clue.

Also where can i find a list of the error codes????

Thanks
Steven

im assumign your working on your 91 CRX as per your sig

if so, get rid of any ghetto rigging to the CEL behind the cluster..!!

then under the passengerf feet, fold back the carpet, there
youll see the ECU plate, with a hole in it...
long blink= 10
short blink=1
them use this page to sort out the codes.... http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/tech/codes.html

Sorry I wasnt informative enough.

I have a 91 crx that i swapped a 98 d16y8 into. I am using the p28 ecu with a obd0-obd1 harness from blown90hatch. I have wired up the vtec solenoid, vtec pressure, 4 wire o2 sensor etc.... Since the p28 does not have a led in the ecu, the harness that is bought from blown90hatch wires it up to flash the check engine light on the dash of the crx. I have it connected to a switch per his instructions that when the switch is off, the check engine light is off, when the switch is on, the cel will flash if there are any error codes.

When i turn it on, the light comes on for 15 seconds straight, then goes off for 5 secs, then comes on for 5 secs, then flashes on/off 9 times.

I was told that the first number of the error code will stay on longer, and the second number in the error code will flash alot faster.

In my case is that a 29, or a 19????

does the light come on for a long duration to let you know it is then going to show error codes?

And thank you for the link with the error codes. That is exactly what I needed to decipher the errors.

Thanks
Steven

Ok I figured out what the vibrating/rattling was. It was the exhaust hanger that mounts to the block. I only had one bolt in cause the bracket wasnt lining up very easily. I got on it with a prybar, and was able to get it aligned and both bolts on tight. The engine runs fine without the loud vibrating/rattle anymore.

I checked the engine code, and I am getting a 29 engine code. The list i was provided with from the honda hybrid website does not have a 29 error code listed.

Anyone know what that is???

Also The car idles at ~1k rpm, and dips down to about ~700-800 rpm when ac compressor cycles, just like the a6 motor used to.

But.............If i hit the gas at idle, it is kinda sluggish and starts to vibrate. When the tach is above 2k it smoothens out.

Any suggestions????

Thanks
Steven
