Hi Guys,

What is the process to detect if the o2 sensor is bad ? Is it always via the CEL ? or there could be a situation where there is no CEL but the sensor is bad.

I got a terrible gas mileage and acceleration is sluggish. with a CEL P304 and P1399 Cylinder 4 misfire.

p1399 is random misfire and p304 is telling you its cylinder 4 specific. I would check out cyl4, not your o2 sensor!

 

a misfire code = bad plug wire, bad spark plug or could be a dying ignition coil. as for bad gas mileage. you might want to give it a full tune up.

 

Thanks all, I have an appointment with Honda service for the emission warranty extention and am getting a free tuneup.

So let them check it out. I am glad that the CEL is still there for them to check it out and do the necessary things.

Hopefully i will get something good out of it. I wish they also replace the o2sensor as my car has got 103 k miles and i guess it is due for the sensor to be replaced.
