Default 2.2L b16 with deck plate!!!

tech43 has a kit for the b16 to be able to run 2L+ by using a shortened 85mm custom pistons with ls crank and rods to clear the head.

is it possible to add a deck plate on the b16 to run the same tech43 shortened piston kit with ls or custom rods and 95mm crank???

yes you can use the same piston and make the difference up in the rod.but 85x95 is not 2.2 sorry.i am building a 3/4" deck plated 2.4L H22.

85x95 is 2.156 which is the same as the h22, but it;ll probably have more torque than an h22

well r/s is rod over stroke.... so ls rods are 137 mm and you want a 95 mm stroke so 1.44

the ideal is 1.74.but that would mean deck plate.

Can you explain why 1.74 is the idea r/s ratio?

if you want to know why 1.74 r/s ratios are ideal look it up in the archives...do you see honda going any higher w/a factory production motor...

I just figured if you were going to make a recomendation about the "ideal" r/s ratio youd at least know why it would be considered ideal...

I mean, maybe you know something that the worlds fastest all motor cars dont???

1.4X-1.5X seems to work just fine for them

Id just like an explination, thats all... No harm in that

The Honda 1600 "R' that they use in Japan and Europe and for their 1.6 racers has a 1.83 R/S ratio so I guess they do know, they have improved the old one they coppied from the 1970's Cosworth 1.6 engines.

because at the track r/s don't mean squat....you only drive the car a 1/4 mile at a time.it is not just based on one thing.i for one am not really good at explaining..things like you want them to be explained.

F1 engines have about 2.5 r/s...

but i would think a r/s of around 1.8 would be nice for a il4 honda car engine...

will 151.6mm rods and 95mm crank fit into a b16 block with a deck plate with tech43 shortened pistons?

That's what the B16A has. The B16B with it's taller deck has a ratio close to ~1.84 (going off memory here).
