Looks like 99-00 EK9 to me! 96-98 EK9's came with the bumpers without the brake vents, i know this as my friend had a genuine 96-98 EK9!

In the US, cars come with vin numbers that tell you the model year. In Japan, the vin numbers don't indicate anything on model year. So, if the car was originally purchased on December 31, 1998, it would be registered as a 1998 car.

Not to mention I think they probably get things a year or a half year earlier than us, anyway. ITRs are the same thing. They got their front end restyling a year before we got ours.
