Default Back up battery for aftermarket alarm system

Hey everyone,

I wanted to know are back up batteries affective for aftermarket alarm sytems? Does anyone have one? I know that the alarm system alone, the thieves can cut the wires, so I'm just wondering if getting a back up battery would be a good idea and if it would make a difference.

Thanks.

Some alarm systems offer a backup battery (not our regular battery), what happens is, if someone cuts the wires, the siren will go off with that backup battery. I just wanted to know if it's worth it and does it really work.

yeah alot of my friends have them. its just an external battery that u mount somewhere hidden under the hood and it has its own sepparate lock.
it almost looks like an alarm siren but fully closed in

my friends have used them and they said they work really well

im not sure where to get them though, just ask around

It would help a little yes, but u have have to keep on ur mind that if thieves want ur car they will steal it wutever it takes. the best security for ur car is garage it.

Good stuff!
So if the alarm siren is fully closed in, is there a way someone can cut the wires from the backup battery? Thanks

yes there is a way to cut the wires from back up battery unless u really hide it very good, thieves know wut their doing and they know better.. they can always tow ur car even tho u have an alarm..

Damn it!! Then what's the point of the stores offering a backup battery for extra security if the thieves can get into that as well?? I know, to make money, but they pretty much told me an alarm system without a backup battery is useless.

Put it this way, putting an alarm on ur car will lessen the risk of ur car getting stolen. it really depends how ghetto is ur hood is and hows the car theft rate on ur area. if i were u ill just park my car all the time where i can see it (this is wut i do) and when ur at home garage it or maybe u can buy a daily beater car.

The car theft rate in my area is very high, which is why my insurance is so darn high!! Which is why I'll be moving soon. Thanks for your help.

Ah. So the small box is the battery or something else? Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.

No Problem racer chic. I highly recommend park ur car where u can see it, get an alarm, steering wheel lock, pedal lock. in this case it will lessen the risk of ur car goin bye bye..

you can get a siren with a built in back up battery at http://www.asianwolf.com it works for me and also theres no way you can cut the wires for this back up because it uses a key/lock

COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY CAR ALARM IN THE WORLD. EASY TO INSTALL BY YOURSELF. JUST FOUR WIRES. INSTALLS IN MINUTES. THE BATTERY IS BUILT INTO THE SIREN AND CHARGES ITSELF.
