90 hatch w/ no A/C but wanna put a/c in it question
What's up. Found me a nice 90 hatch that I would like to buy. Only thing that is holding me back from getting it is that it' came w/ NO A/C from teh factory.
How difficult would it be to swap all the a/c line etc. from a hatch that was equipped w/ a/c? I am assuming i would need all the relays etc. no?

...you're going to need everything...try to find someone who's trying to "delete" their A/C...that would be the best way IMO.
from the factory, they "add" the following A/C components (i don't know their technical terms but I can try to explain it to you the best I can)
-wire harness and button (runs from the interior button to the front fan, fuse box, relays, etc.)
-two relay looking things mounted on an L bracket on the driver side rad support
-under neath the dash, there's a duct with the A/C coil inside it that is held in place by two metal straps
-A/C condenser and bracket (under the hood)
-A/C pulley bracket
-A/C fan
-ALL the hard lines
-the canister that sits by the window washer reservior
..that's all that I can think of at the moment.
I suggest trying to find a friend or a donor car...I can only imagine how hard it would be to piece all these parts together
Hope this helps...good luck

It's really not that difficult of a task. I am in the process of hunting down all the components for my 91 Si. The harness is pretty simple to remove from a car that is equipped with A/C and all the plugs are in you non-A/C car already just aren't being used. SO far al I have is the complete A/C harness and the evaporator(The coil described above) That goes under you dash, behind your glove box. Everything goes in with out a hitch. Don't let it scare you off.
BTW I have seen a few threads recently of people yanking their A/C so parts should be on the market.
Good Luck

i just removed my a/c system and it was a pain getting it all out. i think my compressor must still work, but the previous owner disconnected it for some reason. it still rotates and makes noise like its trying to compress. youll have to do the wiring for a pressure switch for the system as well that is integrated into one of the hard lines of the system, and like jdmefsedan said, all the wiring for the a/c activation switch and the condenser fan. i intend to sell my complete a/c system, but im in the middle of a move to a new apartment, so i dont have time this week to mess with trying to sell it. but hit me up next week if you want the set i have. the only parts that are missing are the pulley that engages the a/c belt, but the arm is still intact, 1 bracket that holds the hard line to the radiator, and the a/c activation button on the climate controls. the first 2 parts i dotn expect would be more than $10 from honda, but the a/c button im not sure. i would just wire up a uatomotive switch to it. it deffinetly would be a all day job though. if you have an oem manual though, it has multiple diagrams of the entire system, both from the refrigerant lines and the electrical system associated with it.
Thanks guys. The EF forum is very helpful. Never thought I would get such a big response to my question.
My friend already has an EF that I will most likly be swapping a/c unit/compents w/. As long as it's plug and play and I don't have to figure out how to wire up relays then I guess I could do this. Again thank you very much for your help.
If anyone has anything to add please go right ahead and post it
