Default Mugen or Skunk?

I am trying to decide which one to put on my 98 prelude...

Mugen Sports Exhauts System or the Skunk2 Megapower Exhaust System???

I heard the mugen is a little more quite... which performs better???

ALSO is there a mugen intake that will fit the prelude???

I would go with the mugen. Even though I don't have a 5th gen, I know that the skunk's look and sound ricey as hell.

I have the Mugen exhaust and header combo and would absolutely do it again. The system has been on my car for almost 5 years/70k miles with over 20 track days without any issues. On the highway or around town, it is very marginally louder than stock. In VTEC, it makes a possitively addictive sound.

I have no experience with the Skunk2 system, but they typically make nice products.

Unfortunately, Mugen does not make an intake for the Prelude. I have the intake from the Types S (JDM) and it works very well with my header and exhaust. Similar to the exhaust, it is quiet as stock on the street, but adds some growl while you are in VTEC. It is quieter than running the stock intake with no resonator and creates less engine vibration through your midrange rpm's.

Brian.

the mugen exhaust sounds and performs quite nice, however if you dont want to spend that kind of money i would suggest Thermal.

maxvtec your nuts, i have a skunk2 and it has the deepest tone out of almost all NA engines ive heard, have you really even heard a skunk2 exhaust?

People are stuck on Mugen cuz its JDM and not many people have it. My buddy has a 5th gen with mugen exhaust, mine is a little louder as Vtec hits but they both have a very low gurgle, not ricey at all. Low pitch, with a little backfire when you downshift once in a while.

Everyone hates on Skunk2 (aka Junk2) becuase they associate it with rice and raspy exhaust notes but thats usualy because your see skunk2 stuff on civics, aka engines that have a smaller output that then H series, thus creating a higher exhaust note.

Instead of hating and bashin on Skunk2 why dont some of you actualygo out and try it and see what happens.

Their stuff cant be that terrible, esp since they've been in business for quite some time. Anyone care to try it and come back with some actual facts and not just BS about JDM is suprem and everything else is inferior. I hate all this "he said and she said" crap. Grow a sack and find out facts for yourself and dont just spread shitty rumors.
