Default 2nd gear on RSX-S

Anyone else notice occasional trouble shifting into 2nd, especially during hard acceleration? Sometimes it will pop out of gear when its in 2nd. Appreciate any comments.

Mine never pops out, but it does occasionally act stiff when slotting it into second. I believe this is because its 'cold'.

I have had some problems with second also. I also agree with the statement about the mornings, in the mornings and usually when the car is cold it feels as if it does not want to go into second from first but from third to second is fine. As far as popping out I have not had that happen but I do take it very easy on the car when it is cold. If anyone knows what is wrong or how to correct it let me know.

Let me clarify...its only popped out of 2nd one time...but I'm not sure if I inadvertently hit the shift **** with my coat sleve or something. In any case, it seems like what you all have been saying, when the transmission's cold (when its cold outside) it doesn't feel like it goes into 2nd right.
This brings up another question...do you all think that an engine block heater is really worth installing? Does it really extend life of the engine? I know it really doesnt have anything to do with the trnasmission but any comments are welcome. Thanks.

RE: Engine block heater - not something I'd add.

RE: How cold is cold - 'still' is a better description, ie it hasnt been driven and has cooled right down. Think first drive in the morning or driving it after its reached atmosphere temp.

1st to 2nd on a cold morning, when I first get going, definitely feels a little crunchy. Like the synchros aren't quite engaging.
