Going to a GOOD alarm shop would be the easiest and fastest way. Just off the top of my head, I know that there would have to be another relay added into the harness to route the signal from the alarm to the mirrors. That's about all the advice I can offer at the moment. I'll try to find out more tech for you.

I've done it to my old DC2. Pretty much depends what relay you're using. I had to wire up my own relay. Uuse the Ground when Armed output wire from the alarm, wire a relay to the folding mirror relay at the negative output wire that folds the mirror in.

I used power window modules. That way it knew when the mirrors were either folded in or out. Using just a relay works, but it doesn't kill power the moment it folds completely in, or out. Just my $.02.

Power window modules are technically relays in a branded case. I had to wire my own relay to open and close my mirrors because my set only came with the mirrors and the switch.

Now, the relay going from the signal wire of the alarm to the power mirror relay will either cut or give power to the relay that opens or closes the mirrors. I didn't understand your comment about killing the power.

Window modules are not just simply relays, like the 5 post ones I believe you are referring to. The modules send power to roll up/down your windows and when the window is fully up/down, it senses that and then kills power to the window. Maybe you are referring to some other type of relay and I am misunderstanding you. Because if there is a cheaper alternative, I would definitely like to know. The reason I went the window module route instead of a regular 5 post relay is because I wasn't sure what the mirror would do with power going to it even after it was fully retracted/extended.

Just use the door lock (-) outputs, and wire them to relays to pulse the mirror wire (cant remember the color) that sends positive voltage to the power folding mirror relay. Just a pulse of positive power will fold/unfold them using the same wire.
If you need a diagram give me your email and I can see what I can draw up for you.

Was not referring to your typical bosch type relay. You need to use a 20 amp 12V DPDT Momentary toggle relay. Not very hard to find one, but it wont be caught at your local auto parts store. Not only can you hook it up to an alarm easily, but if you were unlucky enough to not get the window switch, the relay will provide one (or the ability to add one).

At least now you have a back up plan in case something were to go wrong with your current set up.

i am a bit noobi at 12v applications... so here are a few of my concerns/questions:

what amp relay should i use (min and max, or does it not matter? The only easy hookup relay i found at radio shack was a 30amp one...)

since the current mirror power source is not constant, i'll need to hook it up to a constant power source. if i hook it up directly to the battery, what precautions can take to ensure that nothing will short? (gauge wire, fuses, resistors, etc...)

thanx!
