Default Resistor power

Is it true that you can run a 5200 Ohm resistor in place of your air intake temp sensor to trick the cpu into thinking its at 40 degrees?

I've heard of placing a resistor in-line with your sensor, but not replacing it altogether. It makes you dump more fuel into the mix.

I havent tried it...never heard of anyone swearing by it...you'd think if it was worthwhile everyone would be all over it after all these years. I bet its a waste.
