Need help telling the idiots at autozone which axle I need......
Hey peeps, I bought an axle for my civic std. and when I went to autozone I told them it was the 1.5 or whatever, but I guess they gave me an axle for a dx. So what the hell Im I supposed to tell them bitches about which axle I need? Because we all know dx's don't fit on the std hubs. Help
thanks Dre
thanks Dre
The standard is the dx model... unless they changed something recently. If you want to be sure, count the splines on both axles. If they are the same, your golden, if not, tell them.
Sounds like you got an HF axle. If you get a DX or Si axle they are the same but neither will fit in the HF hub. Or you got a DX axle and you have HF hubs.

DX, HF, Si, 92+ ex all d series is the same axles..
Except for 88 crx/civic. They used 21 spline where as the 89+ uses 23 spline
autozone pwns you

Me?
In any event, I'm guessing JDM D Series engines have the same spline count also?

this is 100% correct except some early model 89's also have the 21 splines, gotta mention that.
AND autozones computer prompts to ask the spline count when they type in the model of car for ef civics.
they actually have that covered very well. you just have to not be retarded and know what to tell them.

Std is not an DX, as stated above.
Civic HB:
Std: 1.5L 16v 4speed tranny...smaller hub size for axles, same as CRX HF
DX: 1.5L 16v 5 speed tranny...same size hubs as Si
Si: 1.6L 16v 5 speed
CRX:
HF: 1.5L 8v 5 speed....same size Hubs as a Civic STD
DX or base model (no emblem): 1.5L 16v 5 speed...same size hubs as Si.
Si: well we know what a Si is..
Civic 4 doors:
LX & DX: 1.5L 16v...same size hubs as Si
EX: 1.6L 16v ...same size hubs as SI along with sharing the D16a6 also.
Just tell them you need axles for a CRX HF and you will get what you need.
no question asked.

Ha, You learn something new every day. I thought the dx's were std's. just came with a 4 or 5 speed tranny. Now I know. Thanks!
your first mistake was going to autozone. The dont know squat. My best advice to you, even though its going to cost a little extra(honda dealer). exact fit everytime and it will last alot longer. I have a buddy who goes to autozone everytime his car breaks, parts are not quality. Thats why they offer lifetime warrenty. All you have to give them is your vin # and blam, there it is.
spend $$$ at Honda or $ at Autozone with a lifetime warranty, hmmm tough decision.......
Autozone axles are the ****, cus if u break em with loads of JDM torque, just take em back and get new ones, no questions asked no money spent.

I could take a **** in a box and write "WARRANTY" on it if you'd like..............

Ok tommy boy...if you break a honda axle have fun telling them you want a new one for free...autozone might hire kids in highschool but they do offer parts cheap
