Help the dredded timming belt change.
Some one please help me.Im trying to get the damn crankshaft pulley bolt off.I have a big 1\2 drive breaker. What do i need to do to keep du engine from moving when i crank down on it.Thanks, this is pissing me off.
put it in 5th have a friend push the break pedal down real hard then good luck breaking the bolt loos. I read that it is at 130lbs of Tq when they put it in, so i hope you have ahugh breaker bar.
Other methods include get the tool that holds the crank pulley in place, or get the tool that locks up the cam gears to stop it spinning.

the easiest way is to use an impact gun... i had the same problem and the impact gun i had was too weak.. i borrowed a stronger one and bam... it was off in one try.
get a chain wrench and wrap it around the pully and lock it into place and let the handle hits the ground to stop it from turning then use a breaker bar to break lose the bolt.
Man this thing is on there.Im gonna get an impact wrench before I end up breaking some thing.Ive heated the lil basard up and it still wont go any where.Just to clarify this isnt a reverse thread is it??Thanks for all the help manies.
I just did mine a couple weeks ago, I took off the flywheel dust cover & used a big screwdriver to keep the flywheel from turning. With a friend on the crank bolt, it came right off. (My impact gun wasn't strong enough)
Make sure you follow directions & take your time lining everthing up right when you put the belt back on. Be sure to check/replace your water pump and tensioner while you've got everything off.

And if you can't get it off, take it to a local garage and let them use their impact on it, then retorque it to 120 ft/lbs and then you can get it off when you get back home.
