Default My Clutch Pedal Is Done For. Help!!!

My clutch pedal has been making a sqeaky noise for the last month or so and I have been having to adjust my clutch cable just to be able shift w/o grinding and it all came to a head this morning. My car wouldn't start so I put it in neutral, reached up and hit that clutch safety button and it came right on. I went to shift and it just grinded really bad. So I check up under the dash and the support arm that comes off of the clutch pedal assembly is broken causing my pedal to bend sideways and not work correctly. I searched on this a little, but I figured I'd ask. Here Are My Questions:

I probably need to replaced all three pedals, because it looked like one whole assembly I think, right??

Where can I order the piece's I need(besides ebay)??

How difficult is this to fix??

Any help would be appreciated.

Its not easy, don't do it on a hot day either. I had to do one when it was 90 degrees outside, thats like 110 under the dash.

Your best bet would be looking on ebay or on this site. Or the junkyard, but then you will have to pull those to.

Its not a fun job at all, one of the worst jobs when doing an auto to manual conversion.

Also take out your seat to get more room to work under there. Also there is 1 nut that is hidden under the duct working.

Good advice from 90blackcrx.

You will not need to replace all 3 pedals, or the entire assembly. I had my pedal bend as well and i replaced the bracket that all the pedals attached to. I went to honda and just bought one brand new, it cost me like 90$ and a good few hours to get it done. Taking the driver seat helped a lot as already mentioned!! The heater duct tends to get in the way as well, but just take your time and do it carefully. Also use the search function on this, i remember when it happened to me i found some good info about it and also realized i wasn't alone.

You can also get a similar clutch pedal from the junk yard. There is a cotter pin that holds the pedal to the assembly. dont waste your time trying to replace all 3 pedals.

Also, you can look at DAX's pedal replacement howto. Either search for pedals in this forum or go to http://www.4gcivic.net and I have it up there.

Thanx Guys

The pedal itself looks okay, but where it meets that assembly, it's the support arm to the right that has broken off and when it is pressed the whole clutch side of the pedal assembly bends. so I think I do need the whole assembly. One last question.

I have the 91. Do I need the assembly off of a 91 or can it be 90-91 or 88-91???

any manual **** Civic HB, CIvic 4dr or CRX from 88-91.

You will more than likely run into more than enough 5 speed 4doors ata junkyard for your donor parts.

the assembly weighs a little bit so 50 shipped isnt horrible, but it is high.

same thing happened to me too..just got it bent back
and welded for $20 or $30 [i forgot] at midas..taking
it off is the hard part...

Yeah it seemed like it I pull it off(definately the hard part) it could be spot welded back together maybe. I'm gonna try and pull off today and see. If not I might work something out with bagpipe goatee. I really appreciate the offer and if thing go sour I might take you up on that deal. Thanx Guys!!

Ok I got pictures if you guys wanna tell me what you think I should do







By the way I am in 19380 if somebody wants to sell me an assembly, because i think it might be a better bet than trying to fix that. The weld itself broke and all the metal around that bolt arm is not connected. the only thing holding it there is the lip.

I'm pretty lucky. My friend knew someone who works at a garage and for some reason he was hanging out there on a sunday and he bent it back and reinforced the crap out it and it's great. The pedal still doesn't hit the clutch safety button just right so I bypassed it, but man it shifts so much better. Nice and Smooth. Took me all day tho. I had a lot of security alarm and keyless entry wires running below the steering column. I appreciate everyone's help. THANK YOU!!
