Isn't the idea of an intercooler is to pass as much air ove as much area (fins) as possible? To me (just my opinion), the I/C is too isolate, and mounted in that manner, there isn't much circulations.

Anyhow.. imagine sticking a bunch of these on your ic piping in addition to your FMC...

That is used for the oil filter. It wuldent do much because the pipe would also have to have fins inside to get the heat from the air. That alone would only cool the walls but whats following "air" is what matters.

Or you can place a fan on top of it to suck air tru it

Yes, I know it is used for oil filters... I pulled it off the jegs website. And yes it would be better to have fins inside the pipe in addition... but since there isn't anyone extruding fins of the inner walls of i/c pipes yet... I dont' think this would be too bad... there are alot of exposed i/c piping that could benefit from extra cooling.

The biggest problem with internally finned piping walls - they'd have to be finned on the outside too, otherwise you'll get a lesson in heat-soak. There also has to be good flow over the outter fins. The other problem is that making curved tubing with fins is HIGHLY impractical (half your tubing is curved), and there's not much surface area vs. air mass. Intercoolers are effective because they move a lot of air over an extreme amount of surface area.

Back on topic, isn't that site in the FAQ n00bs are supposed to read anyways?

I didn't see anything there that made the website special, you can find most of that info anywhere... It's not the "best info I have ever read" either.
