Default HELP! Bad noise from engine

So after taking the car to about 8,000rpm 2 times last night I started to hear a somewhat loud ticking high pitch noise.

Its noticable with the hood down and the car at idle, so, a little loud.

Its got me really worried and I don't want to drive it till I can figure it out.

There also seems to be a droning noise comming from the intake, not very loud and possible something normal that I just never noticed before.

HELP!!!!

Let me know if you need more info.

My car has a little bit of ticking noise, under the hood too. I drive hard on ocassions to about 8500 rpm. I think it's just the drive belts. My car only has 5000 km , and has not yet have it's first oilchange.

Yeah, I know it used to , but no not loud enough for me to hear i with the hood closed.

Its almost like a ratle sound.

The car has 16,000 miles on it and just got the oil changed about 150 miles ago, I had it done at a Honda dealer, but now that makes we wonder what they might have done.

It also had the 15,000 mile service done at around 13,500 miles.

and its a 2001.

Sounds to me like youre not breaking your car in all that well.

its at about half way between high and low, which I think might be where they filled it to. Not sure though.

lol...it really makes me giggle to see these threads, where the person who started it really doesnt have a clue whats going on or what to do (and even after sitting there for days still wouldnt) and yet it seems that the idea to bring it to honda to have them take a look at it and spend the $60-$80 on a diagnostic to ease their mind is never a consideration.

Advice? Take it to honda, leave it alone...quit reving it so high if it sounds like its breaking it.

agreed, just take it to honda and see what they say. we won't know unless we hear the sound in person

I noticed this as well, as well as a heatshield rattle on decel at 30-40mph in 2-3rd gear.

The dealer told me Its normal, And I found the TSB on it. They also Said they couldnt "duplicate" My cd player shutting off at high volume yet, I didnt make it 2 minutes out of the place and it did it again and has done it allot since.

I found the tsb as well. So Im going to **** them up, And Bring it in, and casually Whip out BOTH tsbs describeing my problems clearly and the fix for them and see what they do.

I broke my car in properly i think. Never went pass 6000 rpm, before 1000 km. Plus i hear there really isn't a proper way of breaking it in. There was an article written that if you drive your car hard right of the bat it breaks in better.

the winding sound when you first start it is the air pump. car runs rich, pumps air through the exhaust so it burns in the cat. its jsut a nice little emission trick.

ticking noise could be valve adjustment, regardless of the miles sometimes most hondas dont even come with the correct valve lash adjustment from factory. i adjusted my valves at 4800 miles. a ticking usually indicates noise coming from the valve train. if you did not over rev than most probably the valve lash is out.

i wish you were close to miami i would love to take a look at it for you.
