Default Chain/Sprocket for RR ?

I'm starting to mod my 03 RR .. i want this to be a "dual purpose" bike i guess you could say. Like 80% street and 19% track, and 1% wheelie-action fun. But mainly for the track/street, should i stick with the stock sprocket/chain gearing, or should i change it around? I rode my friends 01 R6 tonite, and it was geared down a little bit, and i couldn't believe how torquey it felt, and it would pop right up unlike my bike.

So, any suggestions? Thanks guys

1 up in the front or stock..... 600rrs had perfectly fine gearin for the street and track in stock form... they arent good stunters..... u will kill ur motor if you commute and lower the gearing significantly 1 tooth down in the front = about 2-3 up in the back = about 1k RPMS higher in 6th gear at 600 mph on my old bike........

i ran 15/44 afams on mine with a did 520; i think if i were to do it all over, i would keep the stock gearing or go maybe 16/45 or so. the bike sucked on the highway with the 15/44...

you mean 15/44? a lot of the guys on 600rr.net rarely hit up the highway; i think i went on the highway maybe 10 times in owning my bike....longest highway trip was maybe a half hour....

i'd go up 2 in the rear, using a smaller sproket up front can be harder on your engine, or at least that is what i have read. someone correct me if i'm wrong

nope, you are correct. thats why i said if i did it all over, i'd leave the front sprocket again. i think chain wear is a little higher too when you knock off teeth on the front...
