Default Distributor making belt noise???

Tonight when i rolled up to my other DA to give it a jump I noticed a belt grinding sound. Looked under the hood to expect a loose belt but the noise came from the distributor??? Havn't looked at it yet b/c it was late and I wanted to go to sleep but what could it be???

sounds like the brg. in the dist. has gone bad . pull the cap and check to see if the inside of the cap and dist. is dirty (a brown colored dust)
if it is, replace the dist. assy.

thats exactly what it looks like and also descovered that the timing is off a little. Like the cam gear itself.

it will freeze up completely and do some major damage if you run it that way too long. Swap out distributors with a friend and see if the noise goes away.

is it like a rattling noise right near the dizzy? It happens sometimes when i start the car up.

One some occasions when driving the engine would just switch off.

I thought it was the ignitor in the dizzy? But im also getting this noise.

help appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked the bearing? Or pull the cap of and check the rotor and points.

I may be experiencing this as well. Mine sounds like a whining noise, but doesn't sound until about 15 minutes of driving only in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear.
