This: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=438456 and a calculator is the most accurate way that I know of. Too many people put too much faith in online GUI CR calculators. It is like a trip back to Algebra I from highshchool... it is not hard.

thanks pirate.

this is my first H build, as i was a bseries guy and am new to this so would there be and contact with 30thou off of the head and the middle layer removed from the hg? with rocket regrind cams and flat valves?

his formulas say that assuming 10 thou from the middle layer to be safe, i would be "removig" 6.04cc total volume from the CC. thus netting 11.00xx compression. then add in the valves and you have roughly 11.2~ to guesstimate.
i just need to know if there will be any valve contact before i do this so i dont ruin my head.

I don't know about RM cams but on my type S I had a .020" mill and oem HG and I had lots of room. Also I can go home and take measurements but the middle layer of an OEM H22 HG is NOT .010". IIRC I think it is more like .004" which will put you around 10.6ish with the mill but without the valves.

If you have the head off you might consider swapping to some 11:1 type-s pistons. they are only about $250 a set which is about the price of valves alone...

IMO you will be fine on the valve clearance but it really never hurts to clay the engine. There are not that many builds out there running RM H22 cams.

yeah i know not many people have them yet, i didnt want to replace the pistons just so i didnt have to do bearings and such, kinda lazy...lol
but i was just assuming 10 thou to be safe, i knoew its a lotlless than that

setup will be rm h22 regrind cams, vs/ret
stock 10:1 pistons(maybe maybe S pistons)
middle layer removed from hg
flat valves
mill 20-30thou

clearance issues?
