i jsut got a 92-93 teg ls motor....and planning to get a b16a tranny
for my 91 crx dx
i would like to do fi.. either jackson racing kit..or vortech with after cooler
would these be custom kits to put in ..or would they be just the kit according to the motor type ?i was referring to superchargersonline.com
and i have no ecu ...what should i get ???

My suggestion would be the vortech kit dependant on what type of engine you do have.

Wow, what a great post. You must know because you've had a SC'd LS right? No? Okay then, don't go and spread rumors when you have no valid proof. If the JRSC didn't do '****' for power, why would they even sell them? And why would people buy them? Okay, so maybe before you give advice to someone, you should give a reason why you feel that way. Especially since you don't seem to have any valid proof to show why the JRSC isn't a good upgrade for an LS. Not trying to start anything, just trying to stop people from spreading bad rumors about a companies product w/o any proof. No offense ment

Darkjedi022, I think you would have a better chance getting valid replies if you posted this in the FI Forum. They would know FROM EXPERIENCE what kind of advice to give you.

Bandwagoning is the foundation of HT.
I actually wouldnt mind a JRSC if I got a deal on one and had the money for it. Be easier to keep my AC than with a turdblo

also ps
i am road racing my vehicle ..circuit style..so i dont need alot of power..just reliabilty.....yes i know n/a is the best for reeliabilty ..but i want fi

I like how everyone posts this ONE ******* horror story. This was written like 6 years ago! The quality and reliability of JRSC's are great. I say do it. For circuit type racing, especially lower speed, youd ****** rock.

i hate this turbo vs. supercharger bullshit. there was a thread in FI and it actually containted an answer with dynos.
the jrsc makes more power and torque under 3k makin it better for daily drivin
and the turbo makes more power after 3k making it better for drag race/top speed.
decide for yourself.

hey thanks for all the positive and negative feedbacks.......with explanations...but NO ONE HAS STILL ANSWERED MY QUESTION I AM GOING TO CUT AN DPASTE...

That is the right supercharger for your engine.
You want a cable tranny.
You can look into an intercooler from lhtperformance.com (expensive). Another option I have heard of is endyn will do some work on the jrsc to make it more efficient (more power for less heat). It cost a a lot also.
I recommend an ecu from a 90-91 LS, the other option is to convert to obd1 and run and ecu from a 92-95 LS. This opens up more options for tuning.

I understand why you posted this, and I too am not trying to start anything. But the reason why, in my opinion, it is not a good upgrade is right on jackson racing's website.
They have dyno #'s and on the LS they show a 30 hp and 20 lb/ft of torque increase on the LS as opposed to the 60 hp and almost 40 lb/ft of tq increase on the gsr. Granted the torque curve will be nice and flat but $1800 is a lot for that upgrade in power. I believe a lot of this is because the LS sc is smaller than the GSR's.
For that $1800 a turbo kit could be put together with a t3 that will have a low boost threshold and produce signifigantly more power, easily over 200 whp which is roughly an 80 hp increase and also a huge boost in tq.
There also is the option of fitting a gsr sc onto the LS, which I know someone has done. Do some research in the FI forum. I did and it steered me away from the sc and towards a ball bearing turbo kit.
Hope that helps.
Oh and for the "why would they sell them, why would people buy them" comment, they aren't. Jackson racing has stopped making them for the LS and is selling out its stock, so obviously people weren't buying them.

I never said th jr unit was a bad unit, I just was implying that a turbo on that particular motor will stomp all over it. Theres proof of that all over.

hey thanks that really helped..well i did post it in the fi ...and we will ..see
the only reason why i am asking in here..is becuase the motor/power weight ratio will refer to the crx....i am not looking for drag..i am looking for circuit or road racing...something tht can take abuse ...but i want force induct...
if a turbo kit costed 1800 with intercooler...show me

Well a used kit could be had for 1800. You could piece together an even better performing one for the same price. Using dsm parts (injectors, bov) and a johnnyracer intercooler helps keep the cost down.
