I am no expert at transmissions, so I was wondering if someone could help
me with this. I am wondering if I put a honda lsd in a b16 hydro tranny
equipped with a integra ls 5th gear and final drive will operate just like it
all came from the factory like that. Do I need to worry about grinding or
the gears not meshing well or anything like that?

arent all B series tranny parts compatable..i dont see why there would be a problem

 

where did you get your ls 5th gear?? anybody? i'm doing the same.. and want to get a gsr or ls 5th

Not trying to be a dick.. But you realize you would be making your car MUCH SLOWER with an LS final drive &gt;_&lt;

 

With the ls final, I think only 5th gear would be the only really big difference.
I could live with the others. And the only reason I was wondering about that is
because the trans that I was trying to puchase already had a ls 5th gear and final
drive. But now I am just looking for a ls 5th gear with the stock b16 4.4 final.

 

okay, for you guys, here are the FACTS:
1) the 4.266 LS final drive is not appreciably slower than a B16 or GSR 4.40. i just swapped my 4.266 to 4.40 and i can't even tell the difference. it's 1mph difference in first gear, 2mph in second, 3mph in third, 4mph in fourth, and 5mph in fifth. basically, peanuts.
2) NO factory Honda LSD will fit the LS or B16 final drive. only GSR, Type-R, or B16's that happen to have had an LSD from the factory. the ring gear on LS and non-LSD B16's is physically too small to fit around the Honda LSD.
so, basically, you CAN'T have a factory Honda LSD AND an LS final drive. if you bought a quaife or OBX LSD for LS/B16 you could, however. even so, the LS final drive is not different enough from the 4.40 final drive to warrant bothering to change it over in the first place.

I bought a civic type r lsd that came with a final drive, cant I just install it in my b16a tranny without changing anything? using all b16 parts? I need to know bad my tranny is in peices and wont reassemle
