Default hondabond??

Wats so great about hondabond that cost $15 at the dealer.
Advance Auto and other auto part stores sell rtv for $5 for the same size tube.

i be resealing my tranny this weekend so me wondering if its worth the extra $10 for the hondabond then the RTV stuff.

The rtv stuff from autozone is crap, I had to seal my tranny twice using that stuff not to mention it looked like crap (litterly - Its brown) because I had to use so much to seal it, it oozed out on the sides. Id get the honda stuff IMO.

honda bond is OEM! lol it really is great stuff. I really don't know of any differences with RTV as I have only used honda bond. I have never had any problems with it, so I continue to use it!

from what i have heard from people is that Hondabond wont leak at all.. whereas other sealants leak if you dont.. such as the tranny casing.

Definitely get the hondabond. I've used a few different sealants and the only one that compares to oem is Curil-T. It's this crazy *** stuff from Germany that never hardens and is even acceptable to use on turbo housings. Super expensive though, like $50 (can). Hondabond works just as well or better on any AL-AL surface.

Permatex Ultra Grey is pretty much the equivalent to hondabond. The only difference is hondabond is a little thicker, so it doesn't smear everwhere. Both have great sealing properties and are oil/fluid resistant.

One thing I "heard" that makes hondabond better is it will even make a seal if there is oil on the part is sealing to, where permatex needs a completely clean surface but still kicks ***!!

yes, this is a pretty accurate statement. hondabond is nothing but grey silicone, BUT i prefer to use it for eveything on our hondas. it does an admirable job of sealing, even on unperfect surfaces. as far as price is concerned, i highly doubt that tube is $15. it has gotta be less then $10. I dunno, as my dealer always gives it to me for free.....

i would pay 15 bucks to know my tranny wasnt gonna leak after i took it apart. or you could just get the cheap **** and pull it out and reseal it every time it leaks. quit being a cheap ***. stop by the garage and we can call i79 i think they give us deals on ****. maybe can save a few bucks.

I use the OEM stuff when possible even though it's kinda cost-prohibitive. When I'm dealing with the aluminum timing cover and oil pan on a K20A2 with a turbocharger, I want to make sure it's sealed as well as it was from the factory .

Permatex Ultra Copper if you want to be extra fancy (and my own personal preference).

WOW! Where are you guys buying your Hondabond at $15! I only paid 5.95 at my local Honda motorcycle dealer, they had all the Honda fluids and greases they even had Honda locktite. None of the local Honda auto dealers had any of that stuff. Maybe I should go stock up !

more like 12-15 trannys with one tube.

One tube of Permatex Ultra Grey will seal over 40 trannys.

Give you a idea, I've went through a tube of each in the past 14-15 months.

the Permatex stuff is great .... i use it at the shop all the time and it is a great replacement to the hondabond i wouldnt waste my time buying hondabond when the only difference is 15 bucks and that it is thicker...... and for the guy that uses coper ... that looks like **** when your done ... remember silcone is a sealant not something you want to see after your done with the job so keep it clean when using it
