Default H22 In 92 Civic 4-door questions

Has anyone done this setup? Does the car's larger body compensate for a lot of the handling problems that I have seen associated with friends who have a h22 in a hatch?

How bad will it be?

Yes, it's been done a lot. I would recomend buying an H23 and saving money for a turbo and suspension stuff. The VTEC is disengaged when the trubo kicks in anyway, and you will get a lot more power out of an H23 turbo than you will from even a JDM H22.

the H23 will have enough torque to haul that big car around!

I would go with a H22.....with basic bolt ons you should run some nice times.....if you're worried about the weight difference of an H22/H23 a turbo would only be adding more weight plus ive personally never seen a good running turbo lude...h23 or h22 ive seen them both and all the ones ive seen were having problems.

Yeah... hmmm. Like I said that car wond be turbo'd for at least a year, and I seriously doubt that the motor that is in it now will even be the motor to be turbod. So the whole turbo factor doesnt matter at this point.. I just want something that will strike a lil fear around here till I get that turbo.

What about a LS/VTEC? I can get my hands on a ls motor pretty cheap... what do yall think of that? MiGS keeps telling me to go with a B20 instead of a LS... suggestions on that?

I don't think you'll find a whole lot of difference between putting it in a hatch and a 4door. Remember, a 92 4dr dx is lighter than a 95 si hatch. The center of gravity is probably a little further back in the 4dr but nothing substantial.

As far as what motor to go with, decide what you want to do with the car first. If you want mainly a drag car, you're probably best off with the h22. Otherwise, I'de do whatever b-series combo you can decide on.

Well its going in a daily driver... I'm not looking to autox, but I dont want to end up with a car that will be almost unsafe to drive because it wont steer. Ya know? I guess I just need to get someone with a h22 hatch and drive it and see how bad it really is for myself.

all the rumors about the understeer or oversteer is overhyped..i have a h22 hatch and the handling fine....i use the gsr front sway bar and plan on gettting the itr rear with the beaks kit..get some nice tires and some ground controls and adjustable shocks and it'll be fine..peace

all the people that talk are usually from word of mouth and not first hand experience!!!
