Default Monthly "hold" charge *need ya'lls opinion*

Hey guys. This may be kind of long but please help me out. I need to sell my car.

I just need ya'lls opinion about something. I have a guy who wants me to take my car off the for sale market and hold it for him until he sells his other car. Well i said i will do it for a monthly charge. I said $1000 dollars non-refundable a month for up to 2 months. So, if he sells it within a month he will owe me the price of the car minus 1000. If he can't sell it in the first month, he can give me another 1000 to hold it for the 2nd month, then pay price of car minus 2000. But if he never sellls his car, which causes him to not have the money to buy my car it, he does not get his money back because he wasted 2 months of my selling time (i could have missed a seller). Time is money right. Well he said that 1000 may be a little high for the monthly charge. Do ya'll think this is the right thing to do? Should i lower the monthly hold charge? Does anyone have experiene with this? Ya'lls opinions or experience or w/e is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, the car is a 2001 prelude (look in sig).

don't hold it.. money IS time.. the longer it sits the less it's worth... just say that you'll hold it as long as you can but if someone comes up and makes the right offer... it's gone

Dude, a grand does sound a bit steep, but it can work out a few ways. It will Either scare him away, causing you to lose a buyer. Or, you could make two grand for your car while losing absolutely nothing, all profit baby . And last but not least, it could just go through like its supposed to and everyone will be happy and get what they want. I, however, would NOT put two grand on the line just to have the possibility of purchasing the car, only if it was a sure thing. I say drop the charge to 500 bills a month and you're good to go.

Yeah but like i stated, the money is non-refundable so my time will be worth money. If he never comes through, i will still have his money and profit from nothin . But yeah 1000 is prob too high, might lower it to about 800, at the lowest 650.

Anyone else have some info for me?

Sounds like a decent plan to me. You'll be compensated if the deal falls through the cracks, or you'll sell him the car in a month or so. Either way you win, so if he will go for it, then I say do it.

i wouldnt even deal with it, just leave it up for sale, if the guy really wants it he'll find a way to get it. if not someone else will and he can find a prelude when he can afford it.

Sell it to the FIRST person who has money....dont waste your time or his by "holding" the car..

you are selling your car for what? MONEY....

it doesnt matter who gives it to you first, just make sure you get it...

you are selling your car to make money, not to make a friend...

SELL IT TO FIRST PERSON WHO FLASHES CASH....Hold For NoOne..

take 650/month instead, leave it up for sale while he waits, then if you have a buyer within the 1st month give em an excuse as to why you cant sell it at the moment. tell him you have a buyer, make him hustle for cheese. if he's slackin too hard take that ****....

If you are having a hard time selling the car, then why do you need to bother with holding it?

Im with the above. Sell it to the first person with money, if it happens to be this guys after 2 months, then i guess it was ment to be for him. I do not like holding people's money cause something tells me he could turn it into a legal battle and you could end up giving him his $2000 + you have to pay a lawyer. You know how people are these days.

My policy: Money talks
