Do I need all 3 Helms Service Manuals?
Current Honda: 5th Gen, 94 Accord Ex, 4 Dr, F22B1 V-TEC, Auto Trans, CD5 Chassis, 160K
I plan on ordering the primary Helms Service Manual but should I also get the Helms Body or Electrical Manuals?
Here is a list of what was repaired, and what wasn't:
WORK COMPLETED:
New pcv valve - comp test - 185 to 200 psi - new plugs - new air filter - new oil & filter - new trans fluid - clean battery - repair overflow tank - clean and adjust hood latch - check for dtc's (none) - new water pump - t belt - I. shaft belt - front engine seals - new spark plug seals - adjust valves - new valve cover gasket - New Passenger headlight
WORK NEEDED:
Generally
Possible Cooling fan switch - it works but does not trigger fan until real hot and it shuts off too quickly (perhaps a lazy switch)
Radiator has moist area in top right corner - but no coolant loss just steamy
Clean battery cable
Fuel filter
Glove box screw
Small nicks and gauges in L interior doors, interior door post plastic cover loose; needs a cup holder spring;
All windows need lubrication
BODY WORK:
Grill - damaged in accident
Hood - current hood is functional and closes but is smashed in the front edge .
Passenger Front Door Skin smashed in; but the door and window open and shut ok
Reattach rubber border on exterior RR door handle
RR Side turn signal lens cover has hole in it
RR bottom door rocker panel has rotted hole
Left R fender edge has corroded/rusted area needs small patch work
Trunk has two small surface creases on L side
UNDERCARRIAGE WORK:
Re-attach bumper and Install bumper fasteners
Exhaust leak in mid pipe - mig it or braze it (have both tools)
3 New tires - the RR tire is new
Replace Front Driveaxles
Replace Right outer tie rod

who has a Body manual by Helms for their Accord? Or any Honda for that matter? Just wondering what exactly the Body Manual covers? I know the primary Service Manual does cover some body work. Stuff like how to remove the entire interior, most if not all the exterior panels with exception to the quarter panels and roof of course and even has frame measurements. It's a pretty good size section in the primary Service Manual.
I hear that. I figure the 1,500 page main service manual is a good one to get. But doesn't it have any electrical info in it? Helms has these for $65 but there is a big difference between $65 and $140 if you don't need the other two. Anyone have all three and can give some advice or how much each manual goes into detail? Trying to get only what I need, and don't want to waste money that could go into the car [parts] instead.
the electical section of the Helms Service manual is quite big but I've never seen the electrical manual to compare. I would assume it goes into much greater depth. I would like to know as well though because I never did any major wiring on my Accord but I will need good wiring diagrams when I go to install my F22B1 into my hatch.
If you plan on doing any major electrical trouble shooting or installing of aftermarket parts this book is great. It tells you where every connector is, inside and out. Also has wiring diagams that the main manual doesn't. Its MUSH more indepth then just the main manual.
The body manual is mainly used by body shops. It tells you how to get off and then re-install and line up ALL body panels. It also has were all the welded seems and frame rails are. There is even a section that tells you if your going to hook it up to a frame rake and pull it how far you can do this and what is in and out of spec.

Well for now I'm not, and I'm not even sure I am keeping this car.

Although the car needs work, much of the body work that I will do, at least for now, will only be utility repairs, i.e., getting things to open and shut and stay on without falling off. then maybe ....

then you should probably just start out with the Service Manual and if you find the need for the other manuals later then just purchase them then.
