tokico illumins and tein springs
I'm thinking of getting tein spirngs with tokico illumin shocks, will this be a good setup on a daily driven CRX that goes on the track every now and then.
These types of questions get asked alot. I really think people need to do more research, so the questions wouldn't be so vague/general. First, I assume you are talking about the Tein S-tech springs. If you are, then you should know that the spring is marketed as a dress up item---the rates are very soft for an aftermarket spring. Secondly, you probably know that the Illuminas are adjustable, but you likely haven't looked at the shock dyno for it located at the top of this forum. Either way, I doubt it matters because you likely won't adjust the shocks, ever. So, why don't you buy the HPs? They are cheaper and offer similar valving. Do you value comfort or handling? How much track is involved? I think the answer lies in you doing a bit more research and then maybe asking a more pointed question.
i like illuminas. i used eibach prokits with them. i autocrossed and went to the track with that combo. i thought it was fine. i had a lot of fun competing, driving fast and it was comfortable on the road. i liked the adjustability of the shocks, i would adjust them between track/autox events and driving home.
yes, pro kits are undersprung for competitive driving. i found that out once i started competiting in club racing. but until then, i didnt know, i didnt care. it got me around the track, i was still having fun.
i dont know anything about tein springs.
