Default which cam gears WONT slip?

ive read about some cam gears slipping so id like to know which ones you guys have had good luck with and never have to re-tighten all the time. also, factor in ease of adjustment, such as how well the timing marks are to read etc.

ive found skunk2's for 180 shipped for the pair....would you guys recommend those?

I can't really tell you what brands are best just because I haven't had them to test out, I just go by others' experiences. I hear good things about unorthodox myself. IMO, as far as Skunk2 goes, I give it The only reasoning I have is that when i do searches for classifieds for Prelude parts/accessories/etc, Skunk2 products are usually the most common things I see for sale, meaning nobody is happy with them (just putting 2 and 2 together). But I'm not knocking anyone who has Skunk2 under their hood and is happy with it though...no hating here

All cam gears are fine, or torqued correctly.. yes, even AEM.. Had them for 2 years with no problem... But I do recomend a cam gear with more locking bolts, the more the better....

I have the Skunk2 cam gears, they are probably the best for the money in my opinion.. They are lighter than the AEMs.. and have a 6 bolt design..

Not sure why you keep seeing Skunk2 cam gears for sale everywhere, but I know people that swear by them.. I'm not a big fan of Skunk2, cause personally I think they are a ricer company, but these Skunk2 cam gears are really pieces of work.. they look really good, I got close up shots of them.. the bolts aren't cheap either..

The box the gears came in was just nifty and cute.. I'll post pics soon.

the skunk2's are a pain to adjust cause they have 6 bolts, but if you're not lazy you'll appreciate the extra security.

I would think that all adjustable cam gears have the chance to slip. ANYTHING is possible you know?

Yeah, the Skunk2 cams are as easy to adjust as another cam gear, but like what was said already, you gotta loosen 6 bolts in each one, instead of 3 (Aem) to adjust them.. You've really gotta be super super lazy for that to bother you.

well if ya want cheap ones go for AeM. I don't really care for em...Lots of people get skunk2 because they are pretty good name brand for a reasonable price. Me I have Venom in blue. I haven't had any problems with em and I race em and use juice with em all day.

hell yeah, i think id get venom cam gears they look dope

but i would like to add that everyone talks poo poo about the aem cam gears, yet i've never heard of anyone actually having a problem with them slipping. i really havent heard anything bad about any cam gears, they all seem to do get the same job done. and anyway, dont you think aem would actually make cam gears that slip and get away with it?

peace

I never said i see their cam gears for sale, just their products in general. It's all good if they are working out great for you Diversion, that's why I said I don't knock em if they are working for peeps. I just don't have full trust in their company because I have seen their stuff for sale in the classifieds in the past, and I have friends who were unhappy with their stuff, so I don't know. if you like them though, every car is different

Agreed, most of the problems of slipping are caused by improper tightening of the bolts by people who don't pay attention to torque specs.

I work for a Honda dealership and the only cars we have ever gotten in that had some kind of problem from aftermarket cam gears were AEM cam gears. They all slipped. Just my $.02

AEM Cam gears don't have any problems if they are torqued right.. I've got friends that have had them for 3 years and never had a single problem. I'm just saying that Skunk2 cam gears are good for the money, that's all.

yea....$180 shipped is a groupbuy price going on right now. i dont have the cams and everything yet but will soon, along with the motor to put them in. i already ordered a greddy header and AEM polished intake for the swap so i might as well get all the other parts ordered until i run out of money.

You don't have to have cam shafts to be able to use cam gears.. you can tune your stock cam shafts ya' know.
