The Gear Ratio Game
Ok guys, need a favor. This one's easy, bust out the owner's manual for your bikes/ATVs.
I would like as many people as possible to tell me the gear ratios and tooth count for their bikes. I'm only interested in the actual gears, idler/finals I don't need. If you don't want to do all 5/6, the first 3 are the most important.
With that, I also need to know the year/make/model of whatever it is you're listing.
I'd like to get the numbers for everything possible, street, dirt, ATVs, whatever, and if it's a Yamaha, you get an e-beer from me.
TIA,
Jeremy

Yeah, this is me being lazy. BUT, Google is good for specifics. I'm not kidding when I say I would like to know the numbers for EVERY bike possible.

That's funny, this is us being lazy.

Not at all. I've started the design process for parts of Auburn's 06 Mini-Baja car, specifically I'm designing the gear box and drivetrain for next year's car, and I would like to use OEM gears on custom splined shafts.
OEM gears go through more stringent QC, are already heat treated, and are generally stronger than custom cut gears. If I get them custom cut, I've got to find a sponsor to heat treat them, and I have to design them larger than OEM for "insurance". Plus it takes a long, long time for our gear sponsor to get our stuff done, and I don't want to overload them like we did this year. OEM gears are also already designed with tooth counts that are non-hunting, makes my life easy.
The downside, of course, is that I have to sort through a vast, vast, vast amount of OEM gear ratios/tooth counts to find exactly what I need. Hence, the favor I've asked of you guys. I've already got about 4-5 pages of numbers from various bikes, and I figure I would like to get about 30-35 pages before I start to narrow things down.
So, yeah, that's why. The reason I asked here is that it is taking me usually an half-hour to find the numbers for a single bike, including the time it's taking me to weed out bikes to look at. I literally need the numbers for a hundred different bikes, if possible, of all years. I was hoping that by you guys, out of the kindness of your hearts and the fact that I've helped people here before, taking 5 minutes to look in your owner's manuals, it would save me hours, upon hours of data seeking.

Look in the owner's manual thread. There are probably 50 different manuals in there, including most of our bikes, so the work's pretty much already done for you.
P.S. - You suck at searching if it takes a half hour to find gear ratios.

Groovy, thanks, I didn't know there was a manual thread.
P.S. - I never said I was any good at searching.

Ok, seriously, I was just kidding when I said I was lazy. Try searching for the gear ratios of a bike. You'll get 16000 pages of reviews, articles, forum threads, parts for sale, all worthless ****, and in that 16000 is 1 page with the numbers.
And building cars is easier than the interweb.
But, you know what, I was just looking for a little help from people I've helped, and I catch flak, and that's ok. I should have expected as much.
