Default VSS Dead! Swapped But Still Not Working.

Okay, I have a H22A in my 90 Accord and I just swapped the top piece of the VSS from a 92 Accord to my H22A 90. I lined the pin up and all and it slid right on and I plugged it in but it still doesn't work. Is it possible that part of the VSS inside the tranny is screwed and I will have to swap the whole thing? Or is it more likely that the plug has gone bad and I will need to swap that? Thanks a lot.

Side Note: Any ideas for a close +12V ignition source so I can permanently wire my radiator fan to run? I can not get it to work at all. Thanks.
