Default Cheap NSX = Fraud

I had recently been pondering on the idea of purchasing an NSX over modifying my 95 240. Just a few days ago, I sat at the computer like usual and began to think about the Idea.

"Maybe, I can find a cheap NSX and be content with that. Other than modifying my 240 and risk the Idea of emissions and fun times with officials."

So, I began to search and to my suprise I found an NSX in Rowland heights, which was about an hour away that was only $14,500 1995 NSX Manual, 52k Miles. I thought to myself "Wow, either someone is taking a big loss and really wanting to sell the car, or it's a salvage theft, or it was wrecked." I e-mailed him and I recieved a reply.

The car has no mechanical or physical damage, it is in perfect shape.
I look for US $14500, if interested please let me know
your zipcode in order to get a quote on shipping cost,
also I would prefer a reputable escrow service to proceed
further.
Get back as soon as possible because I have a lot of
requests and I would like to sell my car asap
Thank you.
Francisco

Seems way to good to be true right? KBB rated it at $30,000! So, I tried to call the number listed above and I had reached a "I'm sorry, the following.." Yes, operator. I thought to myself and said "Maybe, he put in the wrong number?" So I e-mailed him again and this is what I got.

Good afternoon,
I am selling the car because it has US title and registration, and I was not able to have it registered here because it does not meet European emission standards.
I am located in Prague,Czech now , I am a Lance Corporal in USMC and my unit has been deployed here due the conflicts in Europe.
Shipping lasts approx 6 days, costs 1262 dollars via Lufthansa Air Cargo
Expedited service because I have discount at their services being in military.
I suggest to use an escrow service, http://www.squaretrade.com/ reputable company used by ebay also,
Using an escrow service will allow you to inspect the car before the money
are released to me,
that is why if you accept the car, after a 10 days inspection period the
money will be released to me ,
and if the car is not suitable for you from any reason,
your money that are held in escrow custody will be refunded 100 % to you,
and i will take the car back on my cost,
if you are serious and if you have the funds let me know and we can proceed further,
Thanks
Francisco

Wow, how nice of you Francisco! Your out of Country, but you want to sell your car? How nice of you! I replied with the following.

Jon De verizon or sumthin like that to Francisco

Since even if in escrow, you are out of country. Thus meaning you can withdraw the money, and break escrow and be scot free without so called 'charges'. I apreciate your time, but I just don't feel like losing my money to an out of country felon.

Thanks again,

Jonathan

Have you guys experienced the same thing?

Edit: This just looks way to damn shady for my liking, I don't know if 'squaretrade.com' is reputable, but I just remember a hell of alot of people from paypal getting BFed by people jacking their funds. Paypal was supposed to be 'secure' aswell.

Yeah, lol. My bullshit detector went way off right when he said "I'm out of country." Not to mention the fact that autotrader removed his ad for the car.

These scammers like to hang around CraigsList.org too. If you post something up for sale, 9 times out of 10 you'll get an e-mail from one of these assclowns saying they'll give you MORE than what you offered. CraigsList has a warning on their site since it happens so frequently. Bah

Yeah "Francisco" is a scammer. As a matter of fact he is the same guy who was trying to scam a guy on one of the skyline boards I frequent. With the same BS about being in X country, has car reg. there but its a US car and needs to sell fast. It is the same **** he told this other guy word for ******* word.

Here's a big hint, if it sounds too good to be true.......99% of the time, it is.

People like this have been pulling scams on everything from Civics to Supra's and NSX's.

The big tip off's should be their request for using an escrow service. The second should be they are outside of the country. I don't buy ANY car I can't test drive. Period. Or at the VERY least have a friend locally go check the car out who is familiar with the car itself.

You have to beware of people out of the country. They can actually set up their own escrow services and pass it off as a third party.

LOL, ive bin threw the same thing on ebay, probly the same guy too...
this is what he wrote me after i asked how much he wanted for it.. he only wants 7k

Dear Sir,
First, I want you to know that I'm from USA but I'm currently in UK where I'm staying
with my son and his wife. My wife died one month ago and I decided to move here because my
son is married in UK. I want to sell the car because I don't want it in UK. I realise that
is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I would't
do in normal circumstances and belive me it is not easy at all for me to sell a thing which
was one of my dreams during last years. The car is an US model with US specs, it passed the test emissions and comes with all the documents you need to register the car. It has a Clear
Title. The title will be signed and nothorized in your name as soon as the payment will be
completed. Condition is great. No damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, and it is
as advertised. NON SMOKER! The final price that I want for the car is $7000 (including
shipping and handling). In normal circumstances PayPal is my favorite way of reciving the
payment but unfortunately for the moment I have some troubles with my PayPal account because I'm out of country and I am forced not to accept this method at this time. Anyway I hope this is not a problem because I am a eBay member and all the payment process will be
done through them. I would like to use eBay like a 3rd party for the payment.
They develop the program Safe Harbour - Fraud Protection. I pay them fees for that! The car
is in US and it is allready to eBay , they inspected and tested the car to see if the
description matches with the real condition.
Look how they work:
1. I will contact them, and I will send your shipping information.
2. They will send us mail forms (the forms will be from customer support team) for you about payment.
3. Those forms must be filled by every part of this deal (me and you) with infos that they required.
4. We must submit the forms.
5. After you will inspect the car, eBay will send me the payment infos and I shall pick up the money.
This means a 3rd party.
After you make the payment through eBay they will ship the car and it will take 5 to 7 days tops until you will have the car at your door. They will provide you all the details about the shipping! I will support the shipping taxes, insurance and handling.
If you agree with moving forward with the deal through eBay please email me as soon as possible YOUR FULL NAME,ADDRESS AND EBAY ID.
I HOPE WE WILL MAKE THIS DEAL BECAUSE I REALLY NEED THESE MONEY!
Regards and hear you asap!
Anthony Miller
