How much would you pay for this crx? Details inside
So I've been looking at this one 1991 crx dx. It has 78 XXXmiles on the clock (all legit, checked it out in carfax), ONE lady owner (has all service records to prove it since day one), the car is very clean and runs smoothly. Also it's free of collisions as well. A small dime sized portion of rust on one of the rear fenders. The exterior and interior are in pretty decent shape, but it's not immaculate. and unfortunately, she wants a whopping 4750 for it and cannot be talked down. What do you guys think? How much would you pay?
Kelley Blue Book lists a private party value for a 91 crx dx in the condition you described as $2050. There is no way she will get 4750. I paid 3900 for my sedan which was immaculate and only had 65000 miles on it 6 years ago.
depending on how badly I wanted the car, and the absolute condition, I wouldnt pay a cent over 3k if the miles are legit.
one thing I have learned about CRXs, miles really don't mean a whole lot. they all have the same problems.
also don't believe everything you read in Carfax. it isn't entirely accurate at all.

I'd say just wait on it...once she realizes she can't sell it for that much - she'll end up going down...how much? Depends on time. I would print out the Kelly Blue Book and take that to her and go from there...

I would not pay a penny over $2750. You can easily knock 2g's off that price. I got a 1991 CRX Si in white absolutley mint body (no rust), everything worked inclusind sunroof, interior was MINT, nothing wrong for 3200. Keep looking!

on these cars miles don't mean that much. i would pay more for a rust free crx with 350k on it than one with rust starting that has only racked up 100k. clean interior is nice, but isn't the end of the world, either.
my point is: dried bushings and tired engines can be bolted in easily (especially if you have a press) but rust is a much bigger deal to fix. plus i find it fun to brag that my hatch with over 275k on it is funner to drive than most any new car.

The only CRX's ive seen go for that much are just about perfect, low miles and look like they just rolled off the lot. I would not pay more than $2000-$2500, like everyone else says, you are still going to have to put a least another $1000 just to fix the stuff that wears over time.
Id say keep looking, and tell her your interested if she goes down to a more reasonable price. I almost bought a stock DX because I wanted a CRX really bad for $3200 and now come to think of it it was worse than my Si in almost every way that I got for 2 grand. I kept looking myself and found a better buy. As I tell other people dont buy a car on impulse, and dont always buy the first car you come across.
